Need Urgent Help: OCD Room Choice
đ¨ Urgent: OCD is making it impossible for me to choose between two hostel rooms Hi everyone, I have OCD, and I have to choose my hostel room today. I'm feeling completely stuck because my OCD is making this decision feel like it will determine my entire year. I have two options: Room 61 - The window faces an open area with greenery. - It seems like it may be quieter. - A friend who knows the hostel told me it's a good room. Room 82 - The window faces the hostel's central ground. - There is a small roof with a water tank outside the window. - Students sometimes play volleyball in the ground, so it may be noisier in the evenings. - I haven't been inside either room yet, but this is what I can see and what I've been told. The problem is that my OCD keeps telling me: "You must choose Room 82. If you choose Room 61, you won't be able to function properly, study properly, or live normally for the next year." The feeling is incredibly strong, even though I cannot find a clear practical reason why Room 82 is actually better. I understand that practically Room 61 may actually be a good choice because of the greenery view and possibly less noise. But my OCD keeps strongly pushing me toward Room 82, and I don't know how to handle this feeling. I've experienced similar OCD before. For example, I became obsessed with a chair in my room because my mind said it didn't belong there. I kept hiding and moving it around to reduce my anxiety, but the relief never lasted. Looking back, this room situation feels very similar. I don't know whether this is a genuine preference or OCD demanding certainty. I have to make the decision today, and I'm terrified of making the "wrong" choice. Has anyone else had OCD convince them that only one option was acceptable? How did you make decisions without giving in to OCD? I am not looking for reassurance that one room is better; I want advice on how to deal with this OCD feeling and make a decision. đ¨ Urgent â I have to make my final room decision before 12 PM today afternoon. I would really appreciate quick advice from anyone who has experienced OCD-related decision struggles. Thank you.
