Aza from turtles all the way down by John Green is a really good representation of what OCD can feel like I think. I felt very seen reading that book. Not to mention John Green has OCD, he has some interviews where hes discussed his experiences and I've found that helpful as well.

My close friend and work colleague has OCD surrounding contamination and he has vouched for me in a lot of situations where my OCD has come into play. I also have another friend who has recently qualified as a psychiatrist and she specialises in OCD - she played a big part in encouraging my colleague and I to seek treatment in the first place

Alegra Kastens. I listened to her interview on Armchair Expert a couple years ago, and that was the first time I had ever heard about taboo intrusive thoughts. I had already highly suspected I had OCD because I've had a ton of contamination-related obsessions/compulsions, but the scary intrusive thoughts I was having were like this dark secret I didn't understand about myself. The stuff she talks about is so heavy yet so important. Having this knowledge and this language about taboo intrusive thoughts was a major stepping-stone to being able to talk about my own experience with my therapist, and to eventually receiving my diagnosis. I'm incredibly grateful for the work she does.
