Idk if this is morally wrong or bad or even ROCD My partner has this friend who I always thought was SO cool. I’m not into him otherwise, he’s cute ish but he’s just cool and I want him to think I’m cool. But when my partner says stuff like “I talked to (friend) about you” I’m like omg, that friend knows me. That friend thinks about me. And it makes me feel a kind of way that I’m perceived by someone I find so cool. I once had a dumb fantasy of my partner and I *doing stuff* and people such as said friend overhearing. Sorry for gross imagery but it’s a big part of it. I feel so horrible about this. My partner said (to my vague indication of it being anyone..) he frankly has women he wants to impress, and it isn’t wrong, but it feels worse than whatever he may be thinking or doing as it’s his best friend… idk. I might’ve had a crush on this friend for like a week three years ago at most but I’m worried so much now

Also this sounds a lot like confession ocd and it’s a real thing. confessing about little thoughts and details or things you just don’t need to share with others is considered a compulsion. If you can’t let it go it’s most likely a compulsion. -c

@Alaina. He wasn’t necessarily upset when I mentioned it was his friend that I did this with, just generally annoyed. He said it makes sense because he is a cool person. But he doesn’t know about the bad sexual thought so I’m really worried.

Hi there I think it’s really important that you sit with this fear of “what if…” and play those fears through your head for a short period. It’s very uncomfortable, (just how you may be feeling now). Once you’ve played all the scenarios out sit with your thoughts for a moment then accept them without any exceptions or determining if the thought is good or bad Just fully accept. Then remind yourself that these are just thoughts I cannot control them and then let them float away. Every time it comes back just gently push them away accepting as you go. Unfortunately ocd attaches itself to things we super care about for instants your partner and the fear that you might “mess up” People who do not have ocd experience an intense thought and or play out a scenario. Then Think to them selves “that was a weird thought” and move on and not try to decipher if it is right or wrong good or bad. For the most part they just simply accept and move on. But for us OCD folks it turns in to a full blown emergency. And that’s when we have to consciously use our tool box. I want to also tell you how much I relate to you. my partner who I love dearly has an insanely hot co worker(s) he’s a firefighter so you can imagine lol. I also really want to impress his co captain because he’s important to my partner. Sometimes I blush if my partner says his co captain asked about me or just really anything todo with his co captain. I’m so ridiculous lol. This one time on a Saturday my partner and I were on a date we got interrupt by a wildfire lol. I had to go with him to the cash and when we got there my corgi jumped out of the truck and straight in to the cash. I chased her in and when I saw was out of my dreams. There was about 8 super hot firefighters squealing over my corgi! Petting her picking her up absolutely giddy. it just about broke me, I was blushing and trying to blend in to the wall because my cheeks were so red. then of course later that even I went in to a full blown spiral if I am a bad partner for having such thoughts.. after a while of sitting with my fear of “what if I am a bad partner” finally I had to fully accept maybe I am or maybe I am not a bad partner. This is a repeated one for me all the time haha. Anyways I hope this helps and you also get a good laugh out of it -c
