Im in hell with my intrusive thoughts. I’ve started ERP but I know that’s a process, I cannot keep living like this. The SSRI my psychiatrist prescribed is just sitting there. Please share your stories.

@Anonymous I think this is where you ask yourself what your goals are. Fear will happen. But it doesn’t have to stop you. I took Lexapro after trying Zoloft. The medication is a wonderful tool in my tool box to help me manage my OCD.
@Anonymous I believe that you can and will get better. I really sympathize with you feeling like you’re in hell. And I’m so glad you’re working on caring for yourself.

I’ve been on a lot of different meds for mental health stuff and I used to always get superrr anxious before taking any of them. Even when I have had side effects I’ve ultimately been okay! Taking that first step can be the short time discomfort on your way to recovery and relief. It helped me a lot to find a provider I trusted deeply. OCD can make getting the help you need rough but we’re rooting for you! :)
Wow. I just replied to someone else who posted the same thing. The medication 💊 stall (or appointment stall, etc) must be pretty common. That and uh ... 🙄 the inconsistent medication taking I'm guessing happens a lot. My current scrip seems pretty good.
pls take them. and dont stop once you have started. now i feel like i cant start them again. for me luvox changed my life and stopping it bc of my adhd and having no school work or routine to remind me just made me too anxious to take them now
Back in 2005 when I finally started on meds for major depression, the first sign to make me realize that it was working, was that I could finally cry once again. In 2010 I took myself off, but then symptoms came back with a vengence in 2014. Same thing happened. Got back on the SSRI and SNRI combo, and sure enough, after a few weeks, I could once again cry and get some emotional release. Everyone is different. I look at starting a new med as a big chemistry experiment. Either it will work, or it won't, and I'd try something else. Back between 2005 and 2010, I tried 7 different meds for sleep, and didn't have much long-term success. The eighth one was fantastic, and I am able to still use this one every few days, just to reset my brain and get some decent sleep. :-) Maybe figure out if you are afraid, not motivated, or some other reason as to why you might be hesitant to try it. I hope you will end up engaging in the big chemistry experiment, to see whether it will work or not. If you're feeling not so good right now, consider taking the chance for some improvement and relief. I wish you peace.
