OCD tips?
Anyone have any advice for letting the thoughts go? I find they haunt me for hours or even days and I’m not sure how to just let them go, any tips?

I just posted this. Maybe this helps some -- The Ruminating itself is the Problem I know, easier said to than done Because it gets conflated with "problem solving" I think OCD people tend to be more introspective and analytical than your average person. We analyze our thoughts, our past, etc. Other people are like "why do you even care about that? who cares???" But it bothers people with OCD. The rumination is the problem. It leads to downward spiraling, which is accompanied by anxiety, fear, doubt, etc. Next time you get an intrusive thought, call it out -- Is something I even *have* to debate? I know that doesn't work for everything and stopping rumination doesn't fix everything and make everything perfect. Because OCD attacks things we care about most - our morality, our integrity, our relationships, etc. But there are some OCD themes that are downright stupid, especially when it starts spiraling. Not all debates HAVE to be had.
The hardest part about letting it go is to not worry about them. It fills you with so much anxiety at first but when you continue to ignore ocd the anxiety makes itself smaller. Just remember this takes time, we have a mental disorder nothing works overnight so don’t get frustrated with yourself because it’s not working. Be kind to yourself, living life to the fullest also helps minimize ocd. OCD wants you miserable, they want you to sit in a dark room and reply everything until you can’t take life anymore.
@Anonymous I know but it’s so hard cause I feel like I sit with the ocd and suffer for days and end up doing a compulsion anyway 😔
@Tristan 1224 I also end up doing compulsions too, I always get scared if I don’t check then it’s true and end up checking, the whole point is sitting with uncertainty as long as you can and constantly continuing until your able to go days with out doing it. You can do 5 minutes a day maybe even 30, our ocd makes us feel like we need to solve everything right now even though it probably happens years ago. We are a very aware group of people, we are just scared of our minds because of the things it tells us even if it’s not common sense. Growing up I was always imaginative, I loved books, writing, I sure did love episode. After episode I loved wattpad lol I loved this other game called choices. I loved a moment to not be in reality and to be stuck in my head and ocd has token a creative person and made it diabolical lol.
@Tristan 1224 - I'm not recovered, I'm doing my best, but try to get on the other side of the anxiety and fear by sitting through the pain / discomfort.
@Anonymous I’m so sorry but we will all get through this ! Thank you for your support!
I posted some tips recently & basically it's letting go of perfectionism, facing your fears, and not jumping to conclusions
I need this too…I’ve been doing so well for a few weeks and just got triggered out of nowhere and have been in a tailspin for the past 2 hours.
@Angelaemerson Same mines been since yesterday, I only got 1 hour of sleep. Spent yesterday crying that I couldn’t make it stop.
