Fear of death

I have similar issue. It mostly gets triggered when someone I know passes away. Then I just think about how did they feel, where they scared, where will they go, will I die like them, will it hurt, will I be scared, etc. I try to distract myself by doing stuff but those thoughts come back from time to time

This is exactly what triggered me doing compulsions and setting the OCD cycle in motion. I was actually in a really good place in life financially and with preety much everything when I started to have this horrible intrusive thought and feeling. My thoughts were what if I don't deserve to be happy, if I allow myself to be happy then something bad is bound to happen, start doing these compulsions and then nothing bad will happen etc etc of course the problem with this is the compulsions whatever they are only make you feel better for a brief second and before you know it your whole life is consumed by this. That was my case anyway I'm still battling OCD daily and battling to reclaim my life from it. Atm I find the thing that works best for me is accepting that yes one day we will all die and we have absolutley no idea when that will be or how or if there is anything after death and there is no way of knowing. I know for sure that if I continue on like this the rest of life is basically going to be really difficult. I'm trying my best to do things that make me happy and avoid things that put me in a spiral. Its not easy and it's a daily practice. One way I see it is the only difference between us and people that don't have OCD is that we are responding to our I trusive thoughts whereas people that aren't struggling with OCD are managing to get on with life whilst having the exact same thoughts

I went through 10 months of being afraid of dying. It was awful. I'm a Christian and believe in Jesus and that I'll be in heaven. However, I was questioning it all. No one is coming back and telling us how great heaven is. The fear has mostly gone away now. Sometimes the thought will come but it doesn't stick around. Finding the right medicine and ERP really has helped me. It is an ocd theme. Last week my ERP exercise was looking at pictures of Graves and sitting with uncertainty. You would think it would make fear of death worse but it doesn't. It really helps.

I kinda feel the same, it took me a while I still feel it but we can't really escape it but that doesn't mean we have to waste all our time thinking about it. If you thought about it and someone died that person is dead, if you didn't think about it that person would still be dead, thinking about it won't prevent it but also thinking and thoughts aren't universal currency. Trust me everyone who has ocd feel like this, our thoughts make the world and we are responsible for everything but we aren't. We really are not, so whatever thoughts you're having now about it end it, accept it, joke with it, ignore it anything because you will never have a great ending with a thought. And even if you do it won't feel good because the energy you spent on it cost you mentally too much. The hardest thing is to accept but it's the thing we have to work most on, not just death or the unavoidable but just the random intrusive thoughts that come by. We have to let them be.

This might be scary to hear but death is the only thing in the universe that is certain. I hate it and I’ve been struggling with it for as long as I’ve been alive but it comes for even the bugs and the leaves.
