POCD and images
Hey guys, are the sexual images within POCD like trying to convince you that you do want it? Like my brain makes me think I want these images. It makes me broken and stressed

Hey, that is the ocd lying to you. POCD and pedo are not at all the same thing.
@apricot tortoise Thank you guys so much. It’s just so weird. Because I never had any thoughts like this EVER. And now my brain convinces me I want those images, it forces me to repeat an image in my head to check how I feel you know, and sometimes it feels like I want it. But I know I don’t deep down
i get that gangster but at least for me its my biggest fear on earth to ever do that to a kid in any way or to confuse them and mess them up for life so thats why the ocd grips onto that fear !! having those images intrusively in your head proves you DO NOT want to do that ever !! it does not mean you want to or would ever do that. it feels so evil and wrong but it isnt coming from any kind of actually wanting to its the opposite !

Since I’m facing SO-OCD I want to tell you something, cause POCD and SO-OCD are really close at some point. The worst part for me is finding comfort in discomfort. When it happens I just remind myself that those are just intrusive thoughts and I don’t want It. You should give it a try too!

@marlejsn We are really glad It could make you feel better. I just want to tell you that everyone in this community is here with you and every other person struggling with OCD. Us and therapists are the only ones that can understand each other. Hugging you from behind the screen. We are in this together.
@scarletwitch Thank you for your kind words. I’m glad we have this community
The way I found out that my POCD was fake and that these are just intrusive thoughts is being in settings around kids (exposure therapy). Since I’m a lifeguard I have to see kids almost everyday, I wasn’t going to let these intrusive thought interfere with what I love doing: helping others. Since this is something I’m currently still struggling with, it’s not always the easiest but all these times I’ve been around these kids at the pool - nothing has happened, and that’s how I know it’s my mind playing tricks on me. The “maybe, maybe not” thing might help; it personally doesn’t for me but labeling the thought as intrusive is also a good step in the right direction. Also seeking out help to people you trust also helps me as well so you could give that stuff a try. Hope this helps! :)
@trent_plattel Thank you for your tips!
you’re not the only one i promise. i had them too especially about kids in my family which i loved and cared for and they literally made me physically react with how much i didnt want them, i once reacted so harshly i almost hit my head to the corner of my table i literally missed it by inches. it feels too real but sometimes you gotta remind your brain that just because you have these intrusive thoughts doesnt mean you are what you fear because human brain isnt as black and white as we were told. it IMITATES feelings and once you get out of the loop you realize how nonsensical they are
@getoenails Omg thank you, your reply really helps me. Like the way you say that it imitates feelings makes me understand it more. Thank you so so much. I always shake make head when a image comes up or put my jaws really hard together to try to get it away :(, but when they do come up my brain literally convinces me I want them en that’s so hard because I feel so anxious about it and panic
