christians with OCD, what do you struggle with ?
so so
so so
I do not struggle to forgive others, however forgiving myself is a real challenge
@itwillbeokay Yes! I feel like I don’t deserve to be forgiven.
@Altruist-Martyr Same brother, same.
Perfectionism and understanding. The Bible is very hard to understand and I feel like I have failed God because I can’t make sense of the Bible. I’ve somehow convinced myself that I would be turned away on judgement day and sent to Hell because God will say “You don’t know me, I don’t know you”. They say you learn about God by reading the Bible, but as I said, I don’t understand it. I have a good heart. I do good things for others, I support and provide, I do read the Bible some and attend church when possible, but I feel like I am deceiving God when un-pure intrusive thoughts pop in my head and as much I try to ignore them, I obsess over them, then anger kicks in and then the panic attacks. Having an alphabet soup disorders is SO hard to manage. You’re not alone. 🫂
@Altruist-Martyr same , you often hear people say spend time in the word or read your bible to hear or get closer with God, but i feel reading the bible only makes me question everything and i don’t get it . i don’t get a deep revelation that everyone else gets
Unwanted sexual/impure intrusive thoughts occassionally.
@FUOCD7 same
i struggle with feeling like God is mad at me or if I don’t listen to a thought and follow through with it that i’m disobeying Him and he’s gonna punish me
@AJ <3 also extreme rocd that also ties in to God “telling” me or forcing me to leave my partner.
@AJ <3 MEETOO
@melanin muffin omg no way! I feel so alone in it lol
@AJ <3 When people say “God told me to do this” or “I spoke with God last night and he told how to handle that”, it makes me feel so much worse because I don’t hear God or understand if he shows me signs, so I too feel I am disobeying him! I also feel like I’m not good enough for him so he doesn’t speak to me or show me things. There are times I have a strong urge to something and I question whether that’s God “speaking to me” but after I do the thing, I don’t feel any sense of accomplishment or as if I “completed the mission”, in a sense.
@Altruist-Martyr, there's no need to feel the need for perfectionism. Romans 3:23 states that "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." The church is full of imperfect people! Alot of the people in the bible were imperfect as well but God used them in mighty ways! He's not looking for perfectionism; God is looking for a surrendered and willing heart as well as a relationship with you. Agreed, the bible can be overwhelming, especially if you don't know where to start. I read it in small portions every day while following a bible reading plan. TBH, it was daily bible reading and the decision to be proactive that helped me get my OCD under control and my life back. A good place to start is Psalms 139:1-18 and 23. It conveys God's thoughts of you. He’s crazy about you! His thoughts toward you are precious! He thinks about you so much that they outnumber the grains of sand! Let that sink in for a minute. I suggest you read Psalm 139 daily. Meditate on it. Check out this link: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20139&version=NLT Hope this helps.
