Im scared that im gonna be blind. Anyone else?
Im scared that im gonna be blind. Anyone else?
I’ve gotten this thought a few times in the past. It’s just your ocd, keep reminding yourself that it likely won’t happen and that everything will be okay. I’m sorry this isn’t the greatest advice but I hope you feel better and not scared
@bobthesloth I feel like im too focused on my eyesight today. I have blurry vision. And i know i need to check them, and i probably need a new glasses….i have distance glasses but i only wore them mostly for school cuz i couldnt read what was on the board and i wasnt really wearing them during the day. I know i also spend much time on my phone so it gets worse……but im scared im gonna lost my vision completely. I went outside and i felt like i have some derealization or what because everything was so blurry, i can see things up close, it is a sharp vision. But i feel like i cant have my eyes fully open or what? Im soo irritated. Im squinting my eyes…. Sometimes I stare blankly into space and its blurry😔😔
Same, it doesn't help that sometimes my OCD makes me believe that my lazy eye is getting so bad it'll permanently stay weird . I always freak out whenever my eyes shift a little and I've already gotten surgery for it... Also I loveee doing my hobbies, but many of it can be done online so I use my phone almost 24/7 . Which makes it scarier because sometimes I feel like I may be somehow losing more vision the more I look at the screen. :,)
yes I have the fear of being blind and losing my independence. in reality no diseases have been detected that would lead to vision loss. however, I have fragile retinas and have a higher than normal risk of detachment which be repaired but also could lose vision
Hey there, all, If you have any questions or concerns, I am totally blind, and have been since birth. I don't have experience with low vision or legal blindness, personally, but I've had 54 years of experience, :-) I use a white cane, both read and teach braille to others who are losing their vision, and though I see what my students go through when losing vision, it is a heck of an adjustment, from being fully sighted, but if it eventually occurs, there are definitely resources out there, in every state, and some abroad, for those who live outside of the US. The iPhone has amazing tools for screen magnification, and for reading the screen aloud, and VoiceOver is waaaaay better than Siri will ever be. There's magnification and the TalkBack utility for Android phones, and there are screen magnifying software and screen reading programs for Windows and Mac. An ophthalmologist or optometrist can certainly tell you if there's anything going on with your eyes, often years before you might notice any vision changes. There are enough of us out there, with white canes or guide dogs; please don't hesitate to ask us for resources. Please don't pet the guide dogs, especially if they're working. When in harness, they are always alert to any safety concerns for their owner. Thanks, and I hope that this is helpful. 👩🦯
