Does anybody psychiatrist keep prescribing them anti psychotics LMAOOO I only explained about being paranoid. I told him about I would assume I said my intrusive thoughts out loud or typing them. I would be convinced people could hear my conversations when talking about intrusive thoughts I mean i understand but lol
im incredibly paranoid and one of my biggest symptoms of ocd is paranoia, i have not been prescribed an anti psychotic ive just had exposure made for the certain things that trigger my paranoia.
@patiencee EXACTLY I told him like mental compulsions and he said no ocd is like a compulsion like hand washing I said no it’s also mental compulsions and rumination. He finally agreed because I have an actual ocd diagnosis from this app, but good thing my therapist is also trained in this and we were doing some erp in group therapy. I was on anti psychotics before but I know sometimes it’s to treat ocd as well.
@Anonymous if youre paranoid compulsions may also look like excessive checking, replaying situations, “planning” what people are going to do, or just like you said, ruminating and dwelling on the paranoia and what your ocd is telling you. i hope youre able to get a second opinion. erp has worked wonders for me and i hope youre able to find the same relief

Maybe seek a second opinion? There are a lot of mental health professionals that do not understand OCD. It's really disappointing. 😕
@savinwonderland This is my first time meeting my psychiatrist because the one I had before actually had me on anti psychotics. But I will sure give it a try first, I have very severe ocd. But since I also started therapy yesterday. I may have other diagnoses so I would try it and see along with the erp I’m doing in group therapy
You mean antipsychotics alone, or in combination with something else? https://adaa.org/learn-from-us/from-the-experts/blog-posts/professional/role-antipsychotics-ocd I think antipsychotics are used as an add-on in OCD treatment, but I haven’t heard of being prescribed antipsychotics alone for the treatment of OCD. I’ve been on risperidone and abilify, but it was paired with something else. And I also have very severe OCD that has not responded well to meds and ERP. I finally received an autism and adhd diagnosis and I think this was important missing information that will help guide my treatment. I’ve spoken to neuroaffirming/neurodivergent providers that were not surprised that ERP has not been really effective for me. This was a huge comfort because you always hear that ERP is the gold standard, so if that doesn’t work for you, you feel like you failed or like a lost cause. So I do encourage you to seek further evaluation. Best of luck!
@sick&tired I actually already have medication prescribed to me when I left the psych ward so I think he wants me taking that and the anti psychotic
