anyone partake?
i was wondering if we had any “gardeners” on here, if you know what i mean lol. 🍃💨 and if so, does it help with your ocd or other mental/physical health issues, and how?

No, it makes me anxious and amps up my compulsions personally- and is known slows down stomach gastric emptying(so doesn’t work for my health conditions). But if it helps you, it helps you so no judgement here. I think ERP is where we can truly make a difference and help rewire neuropathies and patterns, whether as smoking may be useful to cope for some people. Coping is okay, I think it’s just worthwhile to do the hard things and change behaviors and patterns.
🙋♀️🙋♀️ lol I think it depends. Sometimes it can be really helpful because it can distract you from a million ruminating thoughts all at once, but sometimes it can make it worse tbh. I feel like this really depends on person to person and specific details and what not. As for PHYSICAL health, I have several chronic health disorders and it can be really helpful in reducing/taking my mind off the pain. My potential hot take tho is if you’re *partaking* just to feel better, physically or mentally, you probably should be actually addressing the root problem instead of just shoving it away and trying to drown it out. I know several people who have just become so dependant and it’s like, girl, get a grip and get some help babe. All due respect ofc
My ex use to have me garden to help me sleep when my ocd was going crazy🤣 It did help but I don’t anymore. I found smoking to help me but the edible kind was a nightmare.
Unfortunately it puts me in full blown panic and ramps everything up for me. I hear it can help others though!
i used to garden for 10 years (and still do occasionally, though it’s far and few between now). i started way too young, still in my early teens and well before i had any diagnosis. it helped me ease my thoughts for a long time— especially during a particularly bad stint when i was going through a court case against a stalker and was convinced i’d get killed if i so much as left my bedroom. for years it helped manage my overwhelming anxiety, served as a great sleep aid, and helped get my eating back on track when i was riddled with too much panic and anxiety to have an appetite. in january of this year, i had my first truly negative experience with gardening after taking & inhaling wayyyy too much. i convinced myself i’d die, had a major panic attack, and almost called an ambulance for myself. since then, i really only feel anxious when i’ve tried, i think largely because my ocd has now convinced me that i’ll never be able to garden again without having a panic attack (which so far, has been true, unless i’m doing it with my partner). all of this is to say, it truly can help so much, in so many facets, especially with pain relief and anxiety. be aware, though, that ocd will still do its thing, and even as a long term user, my thoughts have gotten the better of me despite the help the plant brings. listen to your body and take things slow!
Not anymore. It makes me super paranoid and triggered OCD thoughts
Used to love to garden. Now it just makes me panicked and paranoid.
