@MR.25.25 There's actually the just the OCD lying to you.
I know sometimes it doesn't help to say that the swallowing has no connection to whether or not you like the thought--because the lies of the OCD are just so strong inside us.
However, you'll have to take it on faith. I am telling you that the swallowing has no connection to anything (just like moving my nose has no connection to anything!)
This nose thing has been a big struggle, though, so I know how you feel. I've been dealing with it for a very long time. Lol, I don't even want to admit how long, because I've known how to defeat it for a long time. It's just hard to put it into practice.
But the cure for this is to start practicing. You will need to practice swallowing ANYWAY, despite the fact that the OCD has attributed a dangerous meaning to it.
This is an example of a totally a normal OCD trap. It's one of the OCD's prime strategies to keep us miserable.
But you don't have to listen to the OCD :-) :-)
--------------
One more thing. It will help you A LOT if you stop caring whether you like the thought or not.
The OCD wants to believe it would be the worst thing in the world if you liked the thought. However, the truth is, you need to get to a place where you don't care if you like the thought or not. You need to know that the thoughts are just meaningless. It doesn't matter if you feel like you like them. It doesn't matter if you feel like you don't. You are not going to try to figure out whether you like them or not. Sometimes your brain will tell you that you like them. And that's OK. Because in the end, the thoughts are all meaningless.
As long as you try to distinguish between the thoughts (e.g., The ones you like vs the ones you don't like), the OCD will keep you in a trap.
When you do this, it's like saying some thoughts are safe and some thoughts are not. But in reality, they are all safe, because they are all meaningless. And you have to treat them all the same, whether you like them or not.
We can discuss this more, but I think you will gain a lot of freedom when you decide to stop figuring out whether or not you liked them.
When this issue comes up, you can tell yourself "well, maybe I liked the thoughts, and I maybe didn't, but it doesn't matter, because it's just a thought."
Keep writing, please! We can keep talking about this. I know what it's like to struggle on a certain theme for a very long time. And if I could've talked about it, I could've gotten out of it earlier. I know exactly what this feels like. You can get out of this. ! You can conquer it!!!
