Tired of being in my own skin.

How long have you been dealing with this much alone?
I would urge you to seek God. And i dont mean that in a negative dismissive way or a in passing way. Buy a Bible, read any section in it and pray. Make it a daily habit and meditate on what you are reading and pray to God. Just like youre having a conversation. Be honest with Him what you are struggling with and ask him to heal you. And continue to pray, even if you have to repeat the same prayer asking for healing. Make that a habit and continue to seek Him.
@Anonymous That’s useful if you are religious but God isn’t the answer for everyone with OCD. ERP is. I respect all religious people but religion is no more a solution for OCD than it is for any illness but I understand how it helps some.
@ben123 Im speaking from my own personal experience. Ive been using ERP for over a year and my OCD has always changed into something else that i had to tackle. I grew up Christian, i understand not everyone did and not everyone believes but i decided to be more intentional with my faith and I’ve begun to really have a change in my mind after surrendering to God. Which is why i brought it up. A lot of people have not tried to live as a Christian. Seriously live as a Christian. Not one day or 2 weeks and then “its not for me” and therefore don’t understand how liberating it is to give all your troubles and suffering to God. You literally receive a new identity within Christ and he cleanses you of your sins and he comforts you. It is a deeply serious and profound thing. And for someone like this person who is really suffering I would recommend them to surrender their struggles to God because as I said, I went through it myself. It doesn’t mean I wont ever have to struggle but when I do I know I can give my struggles to God. That I am not alone with them. And that is a liberation. Im not pressuring anyone to do anything im simply giving advice based on something that worked for me.
@Anonymous That’s really lovely for you. But obviously there are many religions and many things help many different people - none of us can know what will help individuals but we know ERP is the gold standard for OCD whatever religion, sexuality or race.
@ben123 I don’t understand your only replying to me when i offered advice same as everyone else because what i did worked for me I never said don’t try ERP. I tried ERP as well. And I got closer in my faith and the latter worked for me. Why is it an issue for me to say “seek God” to someone i’m trying to help when it worked for me? I didn’t talk down on anyone else’s advice
@Anonymous It’s probably just a personal thing and I certainly don’t mean to offend. Maybe it’s because I live in a secular country. I guess I also worry it assumes someone isn’t already worshipping a different religion which could be just as useful. I just personally don’t feel being told to find God as has happened in this app is helpful advice on a mental health forum when people are looking for mental health advice. Just me. And I congratulate you on your progress.
@ben123 No offense taken. I dont know either if this person follows a different religion but i just wanted to share what worked for me and others. I personally think on a mental health forum theres nothing wrong with suggesting to someone to “find God” because it genuinely does help people with their mental health Im just trying to help like you are Some people might be open to try but others might not be And thats okay And thank you
“Anytime you consider getting help your mind goes against it” I have felt this. You are at your lowest point, and u can get better. You are frantic and I can tell by your writing, your mind is going 1 million miles an hour. Im sure whatever I tell you, your mind will get hijacked with well what if I'm different, will it just happen? I must just want to be like this on purpose. I can tell you, you are not alone this is torture I know it's the most terrible feeling and it literally makes you feel like your not going to make it. But let me tell you, go get help even though ocd wants to make you believe that you like being this way. Go to the ED and talk to a mental health professional, get relief, call someone, make an appointment. You can see how bad I have been go look at my last posts. I still struggle. I have been in such dark places that I thought somehow I would not make it and I'm still here. The thing is ocd is tricking you. Its giving you the worst scenarios your mind can possibly think of and in its sinister way its trying to make you feel that it could happen. Be kind to yourself this is not easy, I hear alot of self hate. I do the same to myself. I also feel the more I know about ocd my mind uses that for fuel to make me feel like it's not ocd. Anyways I know how your feeling I really do. Hang in there.
I think writing and rewriting this stuff has become a compulsion and avoidance of doing work to help your OCD. At some stage you need to decide to take action. But no one can persuade you of that except for you. If I may say something with tough love - I think it’s possible you are indulging in the misery as an excuse to not actually challenge it - that you are telling yourself you are so bad so you don’t have to do anything about it. But at some point you are going to have to be brave and take action. Why not today?
