emetophobia+ocd anyone??
im new to this app so hi, but i'm wondering if anyone relates to this post? to be clear im not diagnosed with anything!! but for the past year i've been wondering if i have ocd or not, one of the biggest red flags is my emetophobia it first developed when i was in second grade, i worked myself up the night before about a little math quiz- i was convinced that i would fail and it would ruin my life all night i was struggling to sleep, when i did fall asleep i would wake up stressed the fuck out. i woke up a total of 3 times the next day my stomach was hurting and 2 thoughts circled my mind- i'm scared i will fail and im scared i will throw up. i kept going to the bathroom and hoping that i jsut had to poop, but nope. i took the quiz and felt a little relieved but now i was completely focused on my stomach aches and that there was no redemption for the quiz. i got home and immediately threw up around 3 pm- and i couldn't stop throwing up since that day i made up regulations in my mind like: -don't wake up more than 3 times at night or you will throw up -everyone throws up around the time they were born (i was born around 3pm) so i couldn't eat till a little after 3 -wait exactly 30 minutes after every meal before physical activity, an hour or 2 to be extra safe -burping more than 16 times means you will throw up etc etc, i can't remember the rest but there were other things like i couldn't go or talk to certain people if i associated them with throw up. even my friends, when they threw up i would stay away from them for a solid week bc otherwise i would get sick i haven't thrown up since then, i actually rarely get sick some regulations went and new ones came i started uni 2 yrs ago and i've been slowly letting them go, but i kept up my rules for a solid decade- NEARLY MY WHOLE CHILDHOOD i always thought it was just a weird phobia, but when i talked to people with emetophobia they didn't have such strict restrictions as i did i slowly learned about ocd and i sort of related the phobia to it and as time passed other things- like my avoidance tendencies, degrading thoughts, and obsession with little events around me have consumed my time and behaviors. so now im curious what others feel, think, act, etc. am i more similar to people with ocd or to people without ocd? what is it like not have the thoughts i have? and obviously i have doubts- like im just being overdramatic and the people around me think im just a little funny but 2 people have mentioned ocd when i explained my emetophobia- one is a therapist and the other is a student in psychology. again doubtful... but curious as to what the people on here think and if anyone relates?
