Traumatic day, still feeling the struggle now
My first period class this morning decided to talk about suicidal thoughts/ the act of suicide, trying to figure out whether or not it is a sin or if they will go to hell. Manu people in my class were very passionate about the idea of if a person struggles with suicidal ideation then they need to repent or else theyâll go to hell. It was so traumatic hearing that. Iâve had people tell me in the past that Iâm cursed for having anxiety and ocd and that conversation just sounded so similar to that. To say itâs wrong for a person to struggle with that is so evil and it was so traumatic hearing that people truly believe that. I was so triggered by this topic because, with my ocd, Iâve dealt with suicidal thoughts and itâs gone to the point of me playing out how people would react to me killing myself and if that would trigger other suicides and then it would be my fault. I also have some friends who almost went through with suicide. Hearing that these struggles are sinful is so mind boggling to me. Yeah, obviously it isnât a good thing, but to call it a sin and that someone needs to repent for genuinely struggling with something that deep and personal is so inane. I am so angry and triggered and traumatized and hurt that I had to heat a whole class debating about this. I left the room and had 2 or 3 panic attacks today because of it
