Question for Christians

So, I really like this music artist, but she has king of demons tatted on her forehead and is overall disrespectful to religion. But I listen to other artists who aren't exactly Christian either, but I've been told to not listen to her specifically from my mom. I dont get a bad vibe from her music, I just don't support her as a person. Idk what to do because then I'd have to drop basically everything I listen to because in some way, everyone who is famous is demonic on some level. And I'm not a big fan of worship music in all honesty 😭 now, every time I listen to music, I think "what's the difference between this artist and another artist?" Or "am I committed to God if I can't even stop music for Him?". I'm very confused

Hi, Christian here. I struggle with listening to secular music sometimes especially as a music LOVER! I would at time feel like some music is “contaminated” because it’s not a Christian artist when in reality that’s not true. What I believe is true is that the devil does use music to influence us and desensitize us to certain things. Lots of artists who aren’t Christians make good music, just be attentive to what they are pushing or representing in the music and as a human. Having king of demons tatted is a bit concerning as that is seemingly a part of their identity if it’s on their forehead (wild placement). All in all though this is just my experience and just wanted to say you’re not alone! Talking to God about it is the best way to get it all out and he will bring you clarity! It may not be instant, but God cares about you and he loves to hear our concerns.

That makes sense, the artists I listen to doesn't push anything bad, and if they do, I don't listen to the song anymore, but I still thought I'd ask to be sure and get a second opinion. I'm new to Christianity and I'm still figuring everything out like what to do and what not to do, yk? I've prayed on it, because I really do love Jesus more than music, but Lordddd do I love music 🥹 I'm just hoping God will lead me in the right direction, I usually get a really bad feeling or my head starts hurting when I hear something demonic, so I take that as my sign to turn it off immediately. Lately I have gotten a bad feeling that all music is secretly "contaminated", so this really made me feel better. Thanks for your response!

OCD combined with religion (especially Christianity) can be really hard and extra challenging. I’m sorry you are dealing with that. Christianity is usually seen as a personal relationship with God and not a rules based religion (I don’t know what denomination you are so I don’t know exactly what you believe) I can’t tell you what you should or shouldn’t do, because that is a personal choice for you. If I was in your shoes (and I have been there when I was younger, so I’m telling you what I would have told myself) what is Christianity to you? What is your relationship with God about? And does this music draw you away from who you want to be? Draw back to these foundational questions to help direct you on what to do here. Jesus hung out with sinners, he didn’t stay only in the synagogue his whole life. There are many ways to practice Christianity, and no one can say which way is right- but you can pick the one that is the best for you as you discover what your religion practice is going to be like and about as you read the Bible and learn more. I can say, many sects of Christianity don’t believe in literal demons or that you can be demonically possessed anymore. Many don’t believe that gifts of the spirit (like speaking in tongues) happen anymore. There are sects that don’t take the whole Bible literally- and read it more as myths and stories being used to convey a deeper truth. 🫶I hope you can use challenges like this to deepen your understanding and figure out where and what you want to believe further

Hello! I'm protestant Christian, so I agree with a lot of what you're saying. I'm new to Christianity, so I'm still kinda learning what is and isn't good and what I should stay away from or welcome into my life. The music I listen to never strays me away from God, or draws me away from who I want to be, I never thought about it like that actually! I'm still going over everything in my head to be thorough, but for the most part, the music I listen to is really just experimental, sometimes even with Christian elements ( I listen to all types of music but the artist im referring to is experimental). I want to use moments like this to deepen my relationship with Christ and pray that he leads me where I'm meant to be and takes away things in my life that are damaging my relationship with him. Hello! Another Christian here!! I love this post and this is definitely something that I struggled with as well when I was new in my faith. I was very into non-christian edm music. I used to rave and stuff before I was saved. When i listened to the music , some of it didn’t really even have lyrics, but there was just something “off” in my spirit when i would listen to it. As i got closer to Jesus, my mind and my heart transformed. I was convicted into not listening to that music anymore because that music wasn’t just music. It brought a lot of my past with it that I was turning away from. And when i decided to change my music it was EASY. Because God’s yolk is easy. He is a God of clarity not confusion. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. As you get closer to the Lord and deepen your faith he will guide you! There is so much Christian music out there that’s not just worship! There is EDM, rock, dubstep, drum n bass. Literally ANY GENRE you like. They have it faith based. But yes, don’t be too hard on yourself, seek the kingdom with all your heart, and you will hear him ❤️ I will be praying for you! God bless 🙏🏼
