Weekly Wins: OCD Awareness Week edition

I started my NOCD journey this week first session is today!

I got my conquerer badge today!

I finally was able to eat lunch in a 30 minute time period versus 45-1hr to finish my food.

I’ve been having less total mental breakdowns over my intrusive thoughts!!

It has been a year since I started my Residential stay at Rogers for OCD and Anxiety. I am grateful that I can take moments for myself just to breathe…just to be…and be okay with doing things because I enjoy them, not to perform for anyone else.

I managed to pay attention to and vent my distress at social anxiety in close to real time, so I was able to see an opera last night with my brother and brother-in-law!

I met with a psychiatrist for the first time, and have decided to start taking medication

Using my tools is a win...its been ok for a while but stressful last 2 days

The scratches from my skin picking are healing! ❤️‍🩹

I didn’t attribute or made up any “meaning” behind my body symptoms and refrained from checking them constantly.

I came on a trip to Seattle despite overthinking and anxiety all week!

I set a boundary and kept it!

I did things for myself this week not just for everyone else.

I haven’t cried today. First day in 2 weeks. I did get foggy but no actual tears. Very proud of me

I got my drivers license at the age of 32! I set a goal after restarting therapy to have it before my birthday and I accomplished my goal just 2 days shy of 33! Thank you NOCD and to my AMAZING therapist for helping me overcome so much. OCD is no longer in the drivers seat, I am!

I was able to accept more uncertainty on social media, even when my OCD made me think I posted something terrible. Still difficult for me but making some progress!

How I am able to stay calm and not allow my thoughts control my anxiety anymore without meds, just deep breathing and refocusing.. it’s so nice to be able to control my body again

Despite the death of my beloved grandmother, I’ve been keeping up with my exposures, even if I haven’t been perfect.

That thanks God and the tools,skills i know and i use them daily ocd doesn’t flare up i do have intrusive thoughts and i mean kinda anxious feels wanna tag along with ocd but knowing this things i now win every time OCD wanna attack!

I found this app and used the SOS tool to stop myself from seeking reassurance from my partner!

I have begun my ERP therapy and even if when it’s hard, I know I’m winning with each small step.

I have had health issues I am dealing with and a car accident. Trying to get through things one step at a time. I am excited to go to the ocd walk next weekend.

Day 35 without picking at my skin! My face looks clearer than ever, sores have healed, and I'm feeling more and more confident in my body.

I resisted compulsions that were a 10 on the Richter scale on multiple days.

I BECAME A CONQUEROR!!!!

I interrupted a lot of rummination this week and got a bit better at dealing with OCD. Also I went to a ren fair when OCD was high but still had a lot of fun :)

Followed the plan I made with my therapist to a T even though I was anxious and now I am feeling wayyy better!

I’m learning to not be so distressed at the way my mind can be and what it truly means to be loved and interceded for by Jesus Christ in-spite of my mistakes, pride, and poor judgments🙏🏽🙌🏽💕

I made it to Cancun with my husband which Ive had anxiety about since we thought about trying it.

Having proof once again that set backs can happen, and sometimes are difficult to recognize, but aren't permanent. Nothing is permanent. Keep practising ERP, and accept the wave. It will pass!

I know what the key is now… do nothing… it’s very hard at times, but I know not to engage w thoughts in any way…not even when it seems to be in a positive way. It’s a trick. I am practicing catching my engaging habits and am better than ever.. very proud of my progress.

I made huge progress with my OCD at work the last three days. I feel so much more confident and capable now!

I'm starting to be able to better resist some of my cleaning rituals and "sit" with more of the uncertainty involved!

it’s been a very hard and triggering two weeks for me. i still managed to do some ERP this week and gave myself grace on the days i was too overwhelmed to do it.

I resisted compulsions this week.

I had a big realization about my ocd this week. Despite my ocd telling me doing compulsions would keep me from suffering in the future, in reality, I was actually suffering a lot more from the ocd itself and the mental distress that come with it, than the possible consequences of my perceived/feared outcome. Wow ERP is so so helpful and life changing for me

I'm just impressed that I'm still sane even if there's a little left. And that I haven't been to the police department 🤣 Fear of losing control or getting in trouble 😵‍💫🤧

I am celebrating my 40th birthday tomorrow and at one point 5yrs ago I didn’t think I would be here. I was so mentally burnt out and couldn’t even imagine another day without the mental hell of such severe ocd anxiety and depression along with the pandemic work schedule I had taken on.
