I've had HOCD about being straight or bi, and what's helped has been realizing that to be straight or bi is not bad, and that if that were the case, I'd be okay. Same with being a lesbian. I'm a lesbian who doesn't get disgusted by straight couples or even more mature straight content. Truth be told I like some of it. Maybe that could make me bi? But if that were the case then that's okay. I only came to this place by resisting checking if I was *really* lesbian, and just.. letting myself like what felt good.

Your case was a little different where you were scared of being straight. In my case I fear I'm gay, and even before I never felt that way nor do I now. And honestly thinking I could be gay shatters my dreams. It could be ok with you but isn't ok to be personally especially when my identity is at stake. I'm not homophobic just it doesn't feel right to me

@chamomile The only way you will get over hocd is to stop fighting to ”protect your identity”. You have to lean into the fear like the above person did and let whatever happen, happen with no judgement to take the fear away

@evkrey That makes me feel a bit better not scared about actually overcoming this. Thanks evkrey!!:)

@chamomile It’s actually really scary to do this and likely a lot of what’s going on is automatic. But it starts with telling yourself if the fear is true, you’ll deal with it in the future. But right now you can handle uncertainty with a “maybe, maybe not” approach lol but you’re welcome ! :)

It's totally okay to think it was cute. Lesbians can find straight couples cute too that doesn't mean they're straight. Or like when we find gay couples cute doesn't mean we're gay trans men :)

Ok wait!!! Ever since I was a kid I've always shipped boys and girls, found straight relationships cute and always wanted to have them irl. Is that bad or good??? Does that mean I'm gay??? I- I hope not???

@chamomile That is some sure signs of me being straight right??? I always supported LGBT though I was never too involved in all of it. Does that mean anything???

@chamomile Shipping straight couples sounds pretty straight to me however it doesn't really mean anything who you ship because you could go and read a lesbian story right now and that neither would make a lesbian. You wouldn't be as interested in the dinamic because you're straight but you can read and watch and say whatever you want and that won't qualify for your sexuality

@chamomile No because supporting lgbt is supporting basic human rights. That doesn't make you gay otherwise we'd all be homophobes

@notfortalk Thanks you so much...I honestly needed a bit of assurance today as I was panicking a bit too much today. I'm sorry for bothering like this. My HOCD has given me so much of trauma cause at one point I had thought I was bi when I wasn't. I'm scared it's going to happen again and I'll turn gay or something :(

Okay, but why should you get disgusted or anxious by it ? Does a straight person get disgusted/anxious when they see lesbian couples? If they dont, does that make then gay?

No, I get anxious seeing LGBT anything ever since HOCD so since I didn't get that reaction from myself. Im just panicking!!!

@chamomile I understand that totally. My point was, you not feeling disgusted/anxious doesn't make you what you fear. Those feelings dont prove or disprove anything it's just you're ocd talking x

@MJocd Gosh!!!... I hope I'm not wants I fear and it's just my OCD. Like even today I got groinals response from looking at an extremely cute girl. I am worried about that too like my knees feel weird

@chamomile Groinal responses are fear responses. It's an anxiety response. It happens where you DONT want it too, that's why they're so distressing. Dont analyse those. They dont mean anything.

@MJocd Ok I guess. I mean I got them when I didn't get them for so long it made me anxious. But thanks for actually clarifying I was panicked like extremely panicked :(
