This is terrible, leave as soon as possible. You need a therapist who understands and not tries to convince you

This is the challenge with a therapist who isn’t literate in OCD, sometimes they end up doing more harm than good. If a specialist isn’t available, then you should consider using a therapist through this app!

I would love to talk to a therapist from this app, but unfortunately I'm not from the USA.

Hi Lucy. This does seem like the therapist misunderstood your symptoms. However, she may have also been trying to get you to overcome HOCD by making you less anxious of the possibility but telling that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being homosexual. I used to have HOCD before I developed POCD, and I stopped having HOCD once I stopped being afraid of the possibility as something negative. That may have been what she was trying to do. I could be wrong though. Either way, try to find a new therapist if you're not comfortable.

Maybe she was trying to do that. But it makes me feel more confused and anxious. I'm also afraid to just stop thinking about being bi/lesbian as something negative. What if I accept that I'm bi/lesbian and once I do it this will come out? Like I know I'm straight deep in my heart but what if once I accept the thought I finally turn out homosexual or bi? That's scaring me. I just can't stop thinking about being bi/lesbian as something negative. I'm gonna try it one more time with this therapist but I feel really uncomfortable.

@hopeful4healing How much time did it take for you to recover?

@Lucy1907 Before I worked on recovery I was stuck for 3 or 4 months but once I got the help I needed it was a couple of weeks and I saw some improvement

@Lucy1907 I was just trying to give you an alternate perspective. Plese do not force yourself to go if it's very uncomfortable. You can find another therapist.

@NickC Yeah, I know. I will try it one more time to see if something changes or I'll ask her about it. Thank you tho

My former therapist tried to do the same, she made me even more anxious so I stopped going and found a cbt specialist to get a proper therapy and diagnosis

Oh that sounds great! I may try to do the same if this therapist doesn't work. How did that go though?

@Lucy1907 With the first therapist I kinda ghosted her. Currently I'm seeing a cbt therapist. He's helped in a lot of areas regarding anxiety and ocd. However the ones I'm still struggling with are hocd and tocd. But I'm also learning as I go
