here’s what i recommend: accept that possibility that it may be true for you. that doesn’t mean you agree or approve of it, but just that if it were true, you are still able to accept yourself UNCONDITIONALLY. that means no matter the condition, you can still find a way to accept yourself and also your life and others. try your best to practice that. it takes time. best of luck. and also, teen years are usually when mental illness does emerge or play a larger role. so if others are talking you down saying you can’t be anxious as a teen, they’re very wrong and many studies have shown them to be wrong. stay strong and keep your head high.

The first paragraph of your comment is concerning but Im trying to do that but everytind I try my brain goes haywire. How do I stop that?

@chamomile how to do that? accept that your brain is going haywire and any of the physical manifestations of that. such as anxiety. recognize that you may be experiencing anxiety, and also recognize that it is just a physical feeling. think of it like a hurt finger. you can still be productive and do things even if you have it, and both are equally a physical feeling! then practice on accepting yourself no matter the condition. say, even if you killed someone, you can disapprove of your actions, but still accept yourself as a human. working on accepting your physical feelings and also yourself is very important. if you’re a reader i recommend “Self-Help for your Nerves” By Dr. Claire Weekes.

@FindingAnswersAsking Ok I guess I'll try in my free time while then I'll just sit with my anxiety. Thanks

@chamomile no problem! anxiety is only a problem if you make it one! when i get anxiety, it’s not much of an issue anymore, my perspective has changed on it. i used to think it was this terrible thing, for no good reason! just because it “felt” like it, turns out i was overreacting. when my heart beats fast or my chest aches or stomach hurts because of anxiety, i recognize them all as physical feelings and nothing more. sure they can be uncomfortable, but so is a hurt finger. i wouldn’t freak out over a hurt finger, so why anymore if my chest aches? good luck!

Well but can they be considered as facts?

@chamomile It depends ?

@fruflamuresa I see...I tend to compare psychological facts to my thoughts and then I see if that applies to whatever is going on which makes me more confused than I already am :(

@chamomile Also not to mention I cannot stop doing this!! Anything I read about psychology makes me think "huh? Did this happen to me/is this happening to me?" "Could this be true?". Im not sure if these could be counted as intrusive thoughts or not

@chamomile Well. I also have GAD and its more like worries without feeling the urge to do something to prevent them from happening. Theyre just there. Idk if you have it tho.

@fruflamuresa I have general anxiety too and maybe this is an anxious thought. Do you think this is a part of GAD thoughts? I'm not too sure cause I recently discovered I have general anxiety (haven't been diagnosed)

@chamomile Hmmm idk. I think it would be best for a psychologist to diagnose bc we could imagine so many things due to our ocd or anxiety.

@fruflamuresa True, very true. I actually tried talking to a doctor about my repeated anxiety thoughts and she just said "what anxiety?!You're just a teen!". So I'm hurt and I don't wanna talk about my problems with anybody :(

@chamomile Uhm thats weird? Maybe you could change doctor

@fruflamuresa Nah girl! I asked 3 doctors and all of them said similar stuff. I live in India, a conservative country about mental health and getting help about mental disorders is looked down upon :(

@chamomile Oh wow... dont you have a psychologist maybe?

@fruflamuresa No, I'm just 14 and i did tell my mom but she's very unwilling to take me to a psychologist. Also psychologists only look at adults (mostly) I'm not sure if they see teens too :(

@chamomile I hope it gets better for you. Also you will turn 18 eventually and you could get help then, if not now.

@fruflamuresa But yeah now I'm kind of at the risk of getting temporarily blocked by the community moderator so now I have to stay more careful about what I say
