Oh I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have asked that :(. Have you tried talking to a therapist about your excessive worries?

I start counselling tomorrow. I always worry over my son because of his epilepsy and associated problems. I guess I'm finding it hard because he does not fully understand why he us in hospital with a collar on his neck ( he fractured his C1 vertebrae on the 2nd January) he doesn't live at home. He lives in 24 hour supported living. They cant have him at home because of his injury and if he had a seizure they would not be able to assist with what he might need. This is why he has to stay in hospital where they have everything there. It's just incredibly hard. I should be able to not worry as much because he is in safe hands. When these thoughts come into my head its difficult not to get stuck in the worry

I'm really sorry about your situation and your son, but rest assured because he is safe hands. But I understand your worry and doubt about it, not to mention you're supporting yourself and your son single handedly. Try having a therapist who specialises in ERP (exposure response prevention). ERP will help you get used to the thought and worries and retrain your brain to live with the anxiety.

You're welcome, please try communicating with someone about your problems before they get out of hand and become uncontrollable. Talk with a close family member or friend about your worries

My only close friend has just found out that she has a life threatening illness so I'm not able to talk to her. I have no close family. Lost both parents and have no siblings. Will see how I get on with the counselling

I was hoping to get some support here too. Hence why I joined. It's just difficult not knowing what I'm allowed to say or not say. I'm not after advice because I know my mind is my worst enemy at the moment and only I can change that but some support would be thankfully recieved

I really hope the other members would hopefully support you more. I'm not very experienced in giving support myself since I suffer from anxiety and pure O

I wonder if the hospital has any support groups for parents of children receiving treatment there

They dont have anything. My son is 39 yrs but with the difficulties he has its just a very stressful time for me. He only understands so much about his injury and the need to remain in hospital until his neck has healed is causing some behavioural issues for him. Its It's just a lot of worry
