I have never done that before. Sometimes I turned to other substances though. Out of curiosity, do you know how to actually conquer OCD?

Does anyone really know how to actually conquer OCD?

Ya people get better all the time. The key is just seeing the right therapist who specializes in OCD and Exposure and Repsonse Prevention

I don’t mean to sound terse, but every therapist I’ve ever spoken to has told me OCD will be something you will always deal with. Just not as huge as it once was in your life.

This is coming from someone who has OCD and has been to hell and back with the condition. I got ERP from a therapist and eventually got better to where I was better than before OCD onset. If I can urge you to do one thing it’s do to whatever you can to find an OCD SPECIALIST therapist- not some run of the mill generalist who has no idea what they are doing when it comes to OCD therapy.

@NOCD Advocate - Stephen Smith Honestly, I haven’t had the option to get anything but a run of the mill therapist. I don’t have health insurance but have been diagnosed with OCD and have had the best I can possibly get (in my situation with no health insurance) when it comes to therapy. I have very bad contamination OCD. I’ve been on medications that have helped greatly. No, not some random medication they threw at me and told me “get well soon.” Medication from doctors who know what they’re doing at a mental health facility. I applaud you and I’m rooting for you in your fight with OCD, I don’t think it’s something that can simply go away, which I don’t think you’re saying, I’m just saying this generally. I, like you, have also been through absolute hell with my condition as well and sincerely wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

@blackstar Adding to this, I definitely could use a therapist that focuses solely on OCD.

@blackstar I’m so sorry to hear. Did you know that you could not only connect to an OCD therapist that specializes in OCD inside of this app but also do live video therapy sessions with them? It’s $50 per session too- the price of an insurance copay I built this platform specifically for this reason, since I faced the same problem as you a while back

@NOCD Advocate - Stephen Smith I appreciate you and this platform you’ve created. Its sincerely helped, just with conversation and relating with other people. Thank you for all you do and everything this app has to offer. I will definitely look into the therapy.

@blackstar Man- I feel bad you went through all that. I literally know what it’s like- the torture and how tired you get from all the thoughts. I was misdiagnosed 5 times by generalist therapists. If you ever need treatment just email larry@nocdhelp.com and say Stephen said you can pay only $10 per session. I’ll can cover the rest of the cost per session myself, because I want you to have an opportunity to get better too. Don’t lose faith man. Life gets better.

@NOCD Advocate - Stephen Smith You’re a good man. I appreciate that very much. I won’t lose hope. I’ve decided that that’s just not an option. I sincerely thank you.

@blackstar Np. The way most people get better is through an ERP therapist. If this isn’t an option Np, but you should do whatever you can to find someone else who does ERP therapy for OCD. That’s what saved my life and saves most people. Hope that helps

@NOCD Advocate - Stephen Smith I will see what options they currently have where I go when it comes to this. If there’s none, or they’re just unaffordable, I will absolutely take you up on your offer. Getting health insurance has been a huge priority in my life, as it should be, and until then it’s just one day at a time. I’ve been lucky to get the little help I’ve gotten for close to nothing through programs that take the place of health insurance. But again, thank you. Thanks for the app. Thanks for reaching out.
