Yes. 100 X yes. I have OCD around suicide and exposing myself by sitting and letting the thought play through put me into a full blown panic... I know it's awful, but the fact that you got through that is the first step to recovery. You sound like an incredibly strong person who is determined to get through this! If you keep at it you will start to see results, if it's too difficult to do on your own then I would suggest having a therapist help you with your ERP exercises :)

Mines is only about my daughter and it’s terrifying. I split with my partner and now only get her every two weekends out the month. I have her tomorrow and I know that will be massive trigger. I’m scared that I will be do compulsions to just get through the day.

Thanks Emma I actual feel a lot better already the horrific thoughts still come but I’m saying ‘so what, deal with it if it happens’ and my anxiety barely spiked. I’m going to do another hour tonight and keep actually accepting them all day today. We can do this ?

I'm so proud of you!!!!! I know what you're experiencing must be horrifying for you as well, but you seem so determined to get better. I know you can do it. We are stronger than our OCD and we are not our thoughts :) honestly, I still get intrusive thoughts about suicide but I can now recognize them as OCD and not me. It was really hard for a long time because I had an incredibly supportive family and a lot of things going for me, and I would confuse my thoughts as my own... and that created so much guilt and shame. Just recognizing that I had OCD was a huge help for me I found. Stay strong man I'll be cheering you on!!

That sounds pretty intense and that’s probably too intense for most people. Definitely not how an OCD Specialist would start you off with ERP. Start muuuuch smaller. Try exposures for 10 min. And don’t just dive into your worst thoughts that take you to a 10. Select triggers that take you to about 3 or 4. You don’t just want to start at the top. That’s why you build a hierarchy.

Aww really ? I had no idea I woke up with intense anxiety and i thought just ride it out. My anxiety has been pretty good today as the images are starting to become less and less frequent (well every few minuets instead of seconds lol) also when I provoke the image I don’t get the same anxiety so gonna do kore tonight and I hope that this kicks on

I’m glad you’re seeing one! That will help tremendously. I think with the right guidance you’re going to notice a huge different and ERP (while not fun!) won’t seem quite so terrible.
