Ok so I spoke with my mother today a little. I had been avoiding her because she's had shown bad behaviour with me. As I spoke to her she goes "you're so skinny you'll become anorexic" I don't know why that triggered me. I told her that I had it and she says that I don't have it and I'm faking stuff. She said the same things about my anxiety and HOCD. It really hurt me a lot. I can't tell if I'm making a big deal out of my mom's behaviour

I just really need help to identify this. She has been loving but is always bad when it comes to my opinions and mental problems

@chamomil& Sorry if I come out like this, but is your mom diagnosed with anything? Because I know a friend whose father behaves like that and I those responses sound quite familiar

@notfortalk2 No she isn't diagosed with anything except diabetes

@notfortalk2 Also she doesn't believe in mental illnesses and thing that diagnosis is stupid for these. She thinks therapist/psychiatrists make you mental

@chamomil& Alright because those seems like borderline tendencies but I'm not a therapist I'm speaking from personal experience. But it's also likely your mother comes from a generation who had little to no consideration for mental illnesses which is why she's reacting this way. You aren't making a big deal out of her behaviour. Your reaction is normal and valid. Of course your feelings were invalided by your mother which is hurtful

@chamomil& I'm really sorry. That is awful she does that. That is the reason that most people stay silent is fear of being judged or not taken seriously. I'm not trying to insinuate your mother is a bad person or anything, but it isn't nice to invalidate people's feelings like that.

@notfortalk2 Thank you, and you aren't insinuating my mother at all. She just shows toxic behaviour at times. She doesn't try listening to my mental problems at all, but speaks about her own. Which is more hurtful :( but I try supporing

@chamomil& I have a friend whose parent behave the same. Obviously this situation is hurtful towards you and you shouldn't support her behavior but at the same time I also get that you may be afraid of how she may react. However your struggles are valid and so is your mental health regardless of what your mother tells you

Maybe I've asked this before, but could you speak to your school counselor? You wouldn't have to share any more than you feel comfortable with and they might be able to assist in some way.

We dont have a counselor or therapist at my school which actually makes it hard. My mom is my only friend but she doesn't and reacts to me as if I ruined her life

@chamomil& Sorry to hear that. Perhaps one of the NOCD Advocates have some ideas for you. You might try addressing your situation to them specifically. There's also that weekly Q&A on Wednesdays you might try. Your situation may be difficult, but it's not hopeless. I think you've said you're 14 right? It may be a tough road at times until you can start making more decisions for yourself, but we're here for you and believe you can make it ☺.

@Ben84 I don't really think the advocate's can help in this, it's something that I have to battle on my own. The advice they provide is mostly things that is only available in the US. And I don't live in the US

Maybe, but it wouldn't hurt to try ☺.

I have asked them before and almost all the options were related to US. It would be helpful if they could provide for India. But thank you :) for helping

@chamomil& Okay ☺. Keep fighting and do the best you can with what's available to you.
