They’ve seen it all. If it makes you feel better, my ocd therapist had me right out a manuscript of my worst violent fears, and when I looked up at the end terrified, he was just smiling and amused. He was trying to make me realize that it’s ridiculous and funny, not scary. So basically, don’t worry, they’ve heard all the crazy thoughts, they won’t flinch. Just make sure you see an ocd specialist

Thank you all for the advice. I might look into Skype therapy because the closest one to me is still almost 2 hours away. I feel better knowing I’m not alone in this fear! I’ve been practicing ERP by myself and it has been helpful but I just think a professional could make it faster and easier. Thank you all! ?

It will be the best decision you ever make. It took me a long time to seek treatment as well, but eventually I decided that I was more scared of spending the rest of my life miserable with this illness than I was of finally dealing with it.

Make sure you find an OCD specialist, many places do Skype therapy now if there is not one close to you. Also, medication may be an important part of your recovery as well so you may want to talk to your doctor. This is a good clinic for therapy that offers Skype as well: https://www.cognitivebehavioralcenter.com

I understand this. I’m always scared to go into my exact logistics because I’m afraid they’ll think I’m mad or a danger.

Yeah I struggle with pocd and contamination ocd. I’m afraid they will think I really am one and lock me up or warn my family or something. It’s terrifying. Thank you for all the advice though! For so long I just told myself I would do it on my own, but i don’t know if I can. I need someone to talk to about it who will be able to understand and help me. Thank you all so much!

We have ocd. We always go worst case scenario. There’s nothing we could tell a therapist that would shock them or that they haven’t heard before. Promise.

Having Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is the best decision I ever made. They won’t think you don’t belong in society because a lot of thoughts are normal to have - it’s how we respond to them that you work on. I was super scared as well and was hesitant to talk about some of the thoughts I was having but I am so glad I did it. I really recommend it - it changed my life xx
