Does your friend know of your OCD? Because if they do that was very insensitive of them!

That is not good. A lot of people without ocd don't understand it. I'm sorry they told you that.

To me that is really cruel on their part. They wouldn't want to hear that being told to them, so why say it to you?

Regardless that isn't the way you treat someone with hocd. Are you seeing a therapist at all?

You have to remember that its not a quick and easy fix, it will take time. You can see which activities help you feel better too!

I have also had OCD for a very long time, believe me when I say it gets better. If your therapist is not working for you look for another one, it takes time to find the right fit. I went to several professionals that didn't listen to me until I found the one that did. I understand whst you are going through, I really do, but its important that you keep fighting it. It Will get better

Pure OCD just like you, different themes, the Most recurring are HOCD, POCD and more like that. What I've learned is that all these themes depend and cling on the fear of losing yourself and losing control, at least in my case. You're afraid you will lose yourself and become gay, bisexual, etc, and afraid you will lose control of yourself and give in to these thoughts, but What my therapist hast told me is that Thoughts by themselves are NOT POWERFUL, it is our behaviors and compulsions that give the thought What we believe is "Power".

@Ferchi Wow for so long I've tried to understand what my fear is with hocd. You described it perfectly it is the fear of losing control and acting on the thoughts.

@Lina @Lina I'm glad I could help you with that!! Really ever since I could pinpoint this "root" it has been easier for me to dismiss the thoughts, they will still come up and poke at me, but I don't completely fall into and integrate them into me as I did before.

@Ferchi Yes, exactly. Thank you! Then of course my ocd kicks in and it is like you actually want to act on the thoughts but you're suppressing it. Gonna keep on not reacting to the thoughts. Hopefully overtime I will become stronger. My biggest problems are the mental compulsions.

@Lina But how do you deal with the feelings you get? I have hocd (self diagnosed) for over 3 years. It all started with the thoughts and fear but now I feel I have no control and I have a weird feeling that makes me question my sexuality ALL THE TIME. It's exhausting, I feel like I'm in denial. Any tips?

@Itsme Something I struggle to do but you have to is sit with the thoughts and not react. I havent been doing that I've been performing compulsions which doesn't help at all. But I'm miserable so it is what it is. Until you can get in to see a therapist the best thing you can do is not perform compulsions and try your best to sit with the thoughts and anxiety.

@Lina Thank you for the advice. Irrational compulsions are the worse to quit, but I will try to understand better the thoughts/feelings and try not to react. Good luck you all ???
