I’ve only just begun taking 20 mg of it the past 3 days and haven’t really experienced any side effects so far. I’ve previously taken lexapro and Zoloft and remembering having side effects.

That’s good that you’re not experiencing side effects then. ?

Hi all Taken Aropax (Paxil) daily for over 20 years. Was very effective to begin but over time has tended to become more physiological in that my body cannot tolerate even a gradual withdrawal. I have heard it’s a nightmare drug to withdraw from with horrible side effects and in my experience this appears to be accurate. I would exercise great caution in taking this medication for long periods.

I’ve been on 20 mg now for 2 weeks. My anxiety may have subsided a little but I feel more depressed now than I did when I decided to go on them. I was reluctant to go back on meds

Totally understandable to feel reluctant about going back on medication. For those with this condition, taking meds is a often daily reminder of how this crippling disorder has taken hold of us. That said, from my experience , medication has provided ‘wings’ to manage the darker times and I guess I’m of an age now where I can easily reconcile with myself about taking them....probably for life. Each individual is however different and it’s about weighing up the benefits against the things this disorder has taken from so many of us. Stay safe and best wishes

Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.

Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?

I’m starting NOCD. I had several years of cbt as a child (well over 20 years ago) and I see a trauma therapist. But now I’ll be seeking further help for OCD and just really scared. CBT wasn’t helpful for me. How has ERP been helpful for you? Do you feel like you’ll finally get your life back? I’m consumed by my obsessions 😢 Would love others feedback if ERP helped you ❤️
