Does he know you got ocd? My girlfriend have ocd and although it's not always easy for me to understand and be patient with her I try my best to understand her. I also educate myself online on ocd and how to help her with it. But remember, ocd is hard for you but I thinks it's as hard on your boyfriend also.

Yes, I know that it's hard for him too :( I have a feeling that he doesn't even believe that I have OCD and I suppose he thinks that I only want to grab attention :( I dunno, maybe this is way beyond him..

@martins Give him time, explain it to him again, show him information on internet about ocd. I had trouble believing the behavior of my girlfriend also at the beginning. And even now that I know a little more about ocd it's still hard

Tell him : Listen I have anxiety disorder called OCD . Do you know what is this? Adding word " listen" weirdly makes people pay attention on what you say.

Starting a sentence with listen also make it like an order. You want to have a discussion with your partner not a fight. Beginning with "Can we talk?" or something like that open up a conversation. You also make sure the other person is receptive to what you're going to say. If you can't control your ocd and don't know what to do to get better just imagine how your partner will feel? I wanna be there for my girlfriend but I feel powerless most of the time because even her don't know what she need to get better

@Jamarceline I know but formulation is the key to good communication.

@Theboyfriend Not necessarily the key . Sometimes tone of the voice is crucial

@Theboyfriend I think I would reccomend you watching as many educational videos as it's possible on yt cause there are lots of ted talks . People explaining their personal experience - you'll notice that everyone's story is a bit different and every theme is different bbut it all is connected with a pattern that makes it to be OCD. This app is full of people still struggling and looking for understanding and support so it will be hard for you to find something usefull here. There are short videos on yt explaining basics of OCD. I dont know how much you already know and what you dont understand but ted talks are definitely the best cause they are made by people who deal with OCD pretty well but had really hard times.

Yep, give him relevant resources to info about OCD reassurance-seeking. And assure him that you're working on not doing that compulsion and that it's not attention seeking or anything about him.
