We tend to think if we experience OCD at a level we’re familiar with before that it means we’re losing progress or that OCD can’t possibly be managed. The emotions you’re having are common, and in many ways, to be expected. Imagine you’re walking a trail, as the trail ascends you see this beautiful view from high on a mountain. But as you move forward on the trail, you go into a valley that is covered in dense, foliage and you can’t see anything. You continue on the trail and eventually the foliage clears and you start climbing upward again. Before you know it, you’re taking in another beautiful view from high up. On your journey there will be highs, and there will be lows. But don’t confuse the view for the journey. Because you’re capable of always moving forward.

What is actually causing such high anxiety? Is it because of the resistance to compulsions or not being able to handle them or something else?

The thought I'm having right now is what's causing anxiety and I can't stop doing mental compulsions. I keep analysing an Ruminating the same thought over a over again. I feel I'm going crazy and the person who triggered the thought in the first place is living with me and I have nowhere to go

@Lunatique93 When OCD break down a thought and builds yet a new more powerful thought, it can create opposition with your current mindset. This anxiety gets higher if you try to make sense out of that new thought. It's basically a trap. You maybe can think to get over this anxiety, you've to first get rid of that new thought. Don't do this. Let it lose its energy itself like a sound which gradually fades away itself. Hold yourself and don't lose yourself more into this anxiety.

What strategies helped you get well before? Maybe we can think together about how to put them back in action now so that you feel better in the long term

Not doing compulsions have helped me in the past but right now I can't stop doing compulsions. Even though this thought is a variation of the ocd theme I've being having for the past 2 years. I don't, I'm under a lot of stress at the moment

@Lunatique93 Can you delay or change the compulsions at all to create some wiggle room?

@NOCD Advocate - Katie I find it hard now to delay the compulsions, especially because they're mental compulsions and I get caught up easily.
