Therapists don't judge. They explore with you. In a therapeutic relationship, you have to be brave and not spend your time wondering what they think of you. They're not your friend, and it doesn't matter if they had a negative opinion of something you did, they're literally trained to not let that interfere with the help they offer. A good therapist can be your rock, and all the good therapists are compassionate. That means that they understand your own reasoning for doing what you did, and they know that you were doing your best and it's not your fault if you didn't have all the knowledge or resources at the time to make a decision they suspect would have been better. They're not there to tell you what to do or what they think you should've done. And you're not there to justify your choices to a therapist unless they're a topic you want to explore with them to get more insight on. Insight- not reassurance. They take things as they are now and work with you to get to an outcome and place in your life which you want and are happy with.
