I’m so glad my post inspired you! I’m guessing you’re working towards your LAC then LPC? I’ve been an LSW for 10 years. I will be done with my clinical hours by the end of the year and become an LCSW. I’ve already passed the exam! If I can do it so can you!!

@puzzled_nut I had my license in NY. I was an LMSW but put it on hold since I don’t plan to practice there in the near future.

I am in my masters program for counseling right now and it is so nice to hear that someone else has been in the field with the same disorder. I can do this! End the stigma

Thank you for sharing. I partially want to do counseling but fear I can’t because of my own OCD but feel like it’s what I’m meant to do, this helps ❤️

OCD should never hold you back from what you want to do. It can of course be a struggle at times but I use my OCD to empower myself and others. If I can get 2 degrees (My Bachelors and Masters in Social Work) and pass 2 licensing exams then you can too!! The OCD doesn’t control you! You control it! I use it to make myself a more knowledgable and relatable clinician.

How can I help, not hurt, a situation where one son with no OCD , makes judgements that cuts so deeply into his brother with OCD. It’s a cycle that I seem unable to say anything that results in making that He cares about his brother but, shamed him for having had to borrow money from family because it’s taken such a toll on his ability to function. I feel helpless to bring more reality and compassion into the criticisms. Thsnks

It’s hard. I think you need to educate your other son as much as you can about OCD. There are great books out there. My family educated themselves a lot when I was diagnosed in my teens. They also continue to educate themselves in order to support me. My Sister actually has OCD too. It unfortunately runs in my family but I don’t think they knew what it was until 20 years ago.

Is Adivan safer to take on a regular basis than Klonapin?

You’d need to speak to your Psychiatrist. They are both Benzodiazapines.
