That’s what’s concerning about health ocd. You never know if it’s just your mind or if it’s actually a health problem ? I guess my question is, how many others out there are struggling with their memory when their OCD is peaking?

I can tell you right now that it’s almost certainly OCD and nothing more. When my OCD is running I can’t remember shit. To tell you the truth the majority of my days from the time I wake till I go to bed is like walking around with my head directly up my ass because not only have I clouded my brain with over 10-15 years of anxiety I now find it hard to concentrate, read or even remember what I’ve done 2 min ago or focus on what needs to be done. I used to be a person who was organized! Who was able to plan his day and get projects done in record time or trouble shoot almost every problem that I faced big or small. Ruminations have taken over my brain and I know it’s OCD. I have told and diagnosed my self with Alzheimer’s dementia and you name it. Health ocd sucks and I still question my brain daily as to weather or not it will ever return to normal. Part of living with OCD is also living and accepting that a big part of our brains are broken and understanding that maybe how we once thought , or how we once remembered things are just different now. I do know deep down that when my life is going good. When I eat right. When I don’t drink much. When I exercise regular. When I read and write in my journal and utilize and practice CBT and ERP and rather than telling myself I’ll never get better 18 hours a day and ruminate in my head all day about shit that isn’t even true and I start to focus on all the good things in my life and focus on gratitude, respect for others, focus on all the amazing things I do for people and believe in myself that I am a good person that my OCD and my memory is more clear. However OCD is a tricky bastard and we all know it’s the SELF doubt disease so it will trick you to think of all the worst possible scenarios sometimes all day every day. That’s when it’s time to accept. Embrace. And control your emotions and your thoughts. Hey I’m a long way from fully recovered but I’m giving less of a shit on a daily basis how my mind works and when your able to just let go and let your thoughts be they will let you be. Best of luck

Stress can really make you lose your memory. Having excess cortisol can make hippocampus not be able to recall or encode memories.
