I have a mix of symptoms, primarily indecision and perfectionism and intrusive thoughts about sex. The exposure I'm working on at the mome. Are writing my schoolwork without deleting and starting over or endlessly procrastinating, wearing shorts, and cooking meal kits

My major themes are suicidal and existential OCD. For the suicidal OCD, I expose myself to different triggers such as my closet, items that can be used as weapons, articles or media talking about or portraying suicide, etc. For existential OCD, I have a recording I made myself speaking out my fears and listen to it for exercises, also started writing out geared sentences in a notebook

@Diego Compared to before it’s better but I still get bad days if that makes sense, I’ve only been doing ERP for 2 and a half months so I think needs more practice?

@Evelyn4416 I think it's normal to have bad days But are you seeing a therapist or doing the exposures on your own?

@Diego I’m seeing a therapist but I do the exercises on my own now, when I see her we talk about how I have been doing and what new exercises to do

I have pretty severe HOCD but right now I don’t know if I’m strong enough for exposures as any thought of women/lesbians/sex/etc. causes me distress

Hey! I struggled with HOCD more than half a year ago and without therapy i managed to deal with the thoughts and it doesn’t bother me anymore. It feels impossible now but i promise you will get better

@sunlight034 When I was little I would look at naked women and get turned on and I’m still more turned on by naked women than naked men. I’ve kissed men and not totally loved it and I have a hard time with sex. On the flip side, I’m in love with a man, I’ve felt very physically attracted to a man (butterflies, sexual fantasies, etc.) and need porn to be between a man and a woman to be turned on. And I only get crushes on/want to be with men

@Yikes1000X When you were little, it’s understandable for you to get turned on because you’re seeing something sexual and regardless of what it is you will get turned on because it’s sexual. If you have a hard time with sex, that doesn’t mean you’re not attracted to men. You need porn to be between a man and a women to be turned on, this shows you’re attracted to men. There are many straight females who can admit to being turned on by lesbian porn, it’s normal. You’re also in love with a man so of course you’re attracted to men. Your ocd will hyper focus on one thing and make you analyse it. That’s what you have to fight. Solving the thought isn’t the issue, the issue is fighting the need to solve the thought. That’s what you need to work on

@sunlight034 I just hate how real it seems. Like regardless of never questioning anything until my episodes, when it happens it’s like the world stops

@Yikes1000X that’s the trick, it convinces you it’s so real. i hate it too to be honest. it’s ruining my life, i don’t even want to have kids or have a husband or anything of the sort

@sunlight034 It really does suck. And it’s funny, because I’m an ally of the LGBT community. If I was gay, I don’t know why it would be such a problem aside from ocd

@Yikes1000X Yiked1000x and sunlight034, in skimming your conversation it seems to me that theres some reassurance seeking and providing going on. How can you move towards accepting uncertainty instead of arguing against the fear?

@NOCD Advocate - Katie I really don’t know, I’ve tried so hard to just let it go and accept it but I’m getting married so I almost think I have to know now? But, I know it’s not healthy and I try so hard not to give in. I wish I didn’t, I just feel really weak

@NOCD Advocate - Katie I didn’t think of it that way. That’s really true. It only came back with a vengeance recently and I can see why.
