@AlwaysHere Stop again. You got this!! . You don’t need it. People relapse it’s okay. When you have urges find something else to do immediately. Draw, read something, watch a tv show, walk, paint, talk to someone !!

Bad bad bad bad bad advice. Avoiding masturbation is both unhealthy and a major avoidance compulsion. Ditto porn. NO NO NO.

@Scoggy I would disagree! There’s nothing wrong with not giving into sexual urges. It’s not gonna have any negative effects.

@OCDLIFE There is something wrong with it when it's *literally a compulsion*. You don't tell someone with an OCD fear of getting bitten by dogs to just avoid dogs, or someone with fears of stabbing their baby to avoid knives and babies. Good lord. And masturbation is normal, natural and HEALTHY. Not sinful etc, the last thing this poor girl needs is additional fuel for the moral OCD.

@OCDLIFE Avoiding triggers is extremely damaging and life limiting for people with OCD, it leads us into a habit of making our lives smaller and cutting out things we used to enjoy, including masturbation, all to accommodate and pacify our OCD. It directly strengthens the disorder and weakens one's sense of identity and resilience.

@Scoggy I don’t think anyone should avoid their triggers. And I disagree because I don’t think masturbation is necessary. I’m not telling anyone what to do but if you cut the act out as a whole there’s that. They will have the same thought when having sex with someone else so they won’t be avoiding that trigger in a sense. They can still make progress then. You or she can do whatever they want. I was just offering it as a suggestion because you will not physically be harmed if you don’t participate in that act. Just trying to help someone who’s struggling, take my advice or leave it ! No judgment here ! May not seem like it because it’s just a comment but wish you both the best.

@Scoggy At some point you have to stop giving into your compulsions or you’re just letting the OCD creep back in. It’s definitely a gradual process !

@OCDLIFE Masturbation isn't "necessary", but that has nothing to do with the topic. She's not having sex, she gets triggered when she masturbates, avoiding masturbation is avoidance. It's a no.

I do have an idea how to help it but you're prob not going to like it. 1. ERP on the idea that you want to have sex with your dad. This will reduce your levels of anxiety around the idea and enable you to more rationally see the difference between fantasy and reality and that this is common, just like you used to, without needing to respond to any doubt about that with compulsions 2. Don't use people saying it's common or normal as reassurance or an argument against the OCD. You know already that the worst thing you can do is argue with this stuff. 3. Much less time ruminating on the topic- when the obsession pops up and causes you anxiety, don't try to argue with it, solve it or beat yourself up, just *treat* it like it's not really worth thinking about 4. Do not start to avoid masturbation or porn. If during those things you get this real event OCD popping up with accusations and guilt etc, instead of stopping or arguing with it, put the topic to one side and finish your solo time

thank you. but how the hell do i put it to one side while pleasing myself if i literally cant move the thought away. that just means i will finish on the thought of my father. which will end up me crying to myself and telling myself i am a horrible person.

@AlwaysHere You can. The thought it a thought, it takes a split second to have it and that's it. You have the choice to not follow it up with any mental compulsions, like rumination, analysis, arguing, problem-solving etc. The thought happens, you go "eugh, that thought again", and go back to what you were thinking about before. If you get the thought again, you do that same thing. I was able to do it with zoophilia OCD so you can do it too. 99% of OCD is our compulsions, 1% is the intrusive thought/memory/topic and the adrenaline which comes with that moment it pops up. You can redirect your attention. Plus, the adrenaline goes back down again much faster if you avoid compulsions. Hell it even gives me better orgasms ?
