Does anyone know how to be calm during what's going on in the world rn? I live near a city and shit is going down. Police are being too violent and so are the rioters, I just dont see how this situation will be resolved. Trump is already bringing in the military (?!?!?) and I feel like the next step he wants to take is a civil war, because the man always resorts to the extreme in situations. I feel like we need a leader from both sides to stand up and have a plan to work things out, everyone is just running around in mass chaos without a set of goals they want to reach. I want the police charged as well, and I want justice,but after they're arrested what will we be pushing for? I'm just confused as to where everyone stands, and am terrified that it's only going to get worse from here. What is going to happen...

Sit with the uncertainty. We are all feeling it. What’s important to remember here is that this isn’t just about George Floyd. This is about so many Black lives that have been lost. This is about the systematic oppression that devalues their lives and shoves them in prison and makes us watch them die on film over and over again. What people protesting want is to change the system. There is a clear set of goals if you listen to Black people. They want not just justice for George, but also real change to how our criminal justice system works, among other changes to a society that undervalues Black lives. And there are efforts and town halls and discussions happening and petitions circulating. My town is having a virtual discussion about race in this country. People are trying to make a change, but it’s more on a grassroots level and less a someone-comes-in-and-solves all-the-problems level, because these problems are old and entrenched, and they’re going to take a long time to fix.
