Is it different for everybody or is there one better than the others? I’m almost 22 and I know nothing about birth control ? I just don’t want my mental health to get worse

@Beebuh I am 21 years old and I have been on birth control since I was 14. I got on it because my period was all sorts of crazy and that was the only thing that helped keep it under control. With that being said, I also am someone who struggles with TONS of mental issues and so far I haven’t noticed any birth controls making it worse. Everyone is different yes, so you just have to find the right one that works! For me, I’ve always taken a pill form(: mine is called “Lo Loestrin” and I LOVE it. It’s very mild and does the job so well. Ask your doctor about that one. Only heard good things, no bad side effects for me

@Girl2222 Oh wow! I probably should have been on birth control long ago and honestly I take the morning after pill way more often than I’ve ever heard of ? I’ll definitely be asking about it and will try it out! The worst that can happen is I’ll have to just stop taking it! Thank you so much :)

@Beebuh Yeah girl definitely look into it. No one is rushing you to get on something, so just talk about it with your doctor and tell them things you struggle with mentally that are bothering you so that they can help ease your mind when it comes down to picking the right one(: it’s much better than taking the morning after pill so I’ve heard!? and yes correct! Worst comes to worse, you just stop(: but you will be just fine!

I've only been on two different bc pills, but I haven't really had bad experiences with either of them. The one I'm on now is kurvello and I believe is lower in estrogen than the one I was taking previously. I've noticed since I'm older now (I'm in my mid 20s) I have way more PMS symptoms now than I did as a teen. I experience some mood swings, feeling depressed a couple days before starting my period, cramps, headaches when starting, etc, and the worst one for me is feeling depressed. My PMS symptoms are so much better on the pill and I don't think I really experience most of the symptoms while on the pill. Also, as someone who is usually nervous about medication and was also afraid to try bc, I want to say it's definitely worth a try, and if for some reason you don't like the one you try, you can stop taking it and talk to your doctor about a different option.

I have never had a bad mental state reaction with birth control and I’ve been on everything under the sun. Many different pills, mini pills, estrogen only pills, two different kind of iuds, Nuva ring! I know everyone’s different but that is my personal experience if you are reassured by it

Actually I had a bad reaction to one but I think that it is bc it was not the right pill for me. They gave me birth control to deal with PMS bc I had a panick attack but actually the panick attack was the beginning of my OCD

I've tried three different birth controls and they all cause mood issues for me, but I have a hormonal disorder so my experience will most likely differ from yours.
