Ok, so you got the intrusive thought that it's possible to interpret motivational statements as making it ok to do your fear. What do we do about intrusive thoughts? Do that :) As a side note, developing a more compassionate attitude towards yourself and others is never a bad thing so long as it comes with healthy boundaries. You don't want to judge and shame other people. Whether your attitude that nobody deserves death or massive suffering for their mistakes was caused by your experiences with shame and OCD or not (I have the same outlook), I don't see anything wrong with owning it. Sometimes people are going to disagree. You can cope with being disagreed with. You don't need a stamp of approval from a fucked up society before you can live by your ethical views. Boundaries to put alongside compassion are really important. They're the difference between "free the child molesters, they're people too!" and "child molesters are fucked up humans like everybody else, and while we should take precautions to make sure they don't do it again, and should punish or rehabilitate them, they're not subhuman and they deserve compassion and the opportunity to make amends and turn things around". The second position is what our society enacts by imprisoning and later releasing people, and certain countries do a better job of rehabilitation and prevention than others. Criminals face a lifetime of social stigma and hampered opportunity, which is an additional part of the punishment which some people agree with and some people don't. You not thinking sex traffickers deserve the death penalty is not an immoral position. It's just an ethical position informed by your feelings about and experiences with feelings of shame and stigma. Having self compassion isn't the same thing as setting no boundaries on your own behaviour. The fact of not seeing anything as inherently unforgivable isn't the same as seeing everything as acceptable. There is a huge difference between accountability and blame.

This was me like 2 months ago. I wouldn’t like listening to any motivational stuff because it would make my ocd worse. It’s just your ocd twisting it.
