I’ve been doing therapy through NOCD since March! I used to see a mental health counselor for a couple months before that but that was before I started suspecting I had OCD and she didn’t seem to have much knowledge about it so I went to look at potential options. I stumbled upon this app and saw they were legit and offering therapy with OCD specialists. For a little while I was debating whether I should go with NOCD (since it would be my first time doing teletherapy) and connecting myself with an in-person therapist (the closet one to me was in the next city over - at least about a 45 minute drive). I decided to go with NOCD because the process to get started seemed less complicated. After everything, I actually really enjoy teletherapy! I still feel connected to my therapist over Zoom like I did with my previous mental health professional who I was in person, except I didn’t have to get ready and drive off someone to meet them. Normally for my sessions now I’ll wake up 30 minutes beforehand to make myself somewhat presentable for my session, while still in pajamas. Plus my current therapist is super awesome and understanding of my condition. Even more of a plus is that with covid-19 still prowling around (especially in my state) it is definitely better to be connected online where I can stay with the same therapist consistently and not have sessions cut off or get weird with flipping back and forth from online to person. Just my personal opinion and experience!

Also side now that seeing a specialist in OCDA made a very big difference as well. My previous mental health counselor worked with anxiety and depression, but could not provide me with what seemed like any info about OCD. My therapist now, being an OCD specialist, totally gets where I’m coming from and can properly administer ERP treatment for me to learn and apply in my own life. Just from starting that treatment I’ve seen huge strides in progress. I still definitely get moments, but I’m able to handle it slightly better each time

I struggled to find a therapist that my insurance offers. My wife told me the NOCD started accepting my insurance so I did the consultation. I started doing in ERP. The first two weeks were tough but the stronger you become, the easier it gets. Just do the free consultation and decide after that.

Thank you that’s really helpful, I didn’t know the consultation was free, I’ll definately look into it. It sounds like you’ve had a good experience!

@Kccc12 Oh yeah. I’m almost done with therapy. It’s intensive but you’ll be amazed how much easier life m becomes when you learn how to deal with intrusive thoughts. Good luck!

@nicehazards Thank you! I’ve already done some work through workbooks and on my own and have seen a huge difference. My boyfriend is going to move back in with me and I want all of the tools I can use because I know change is super triggering for me. I’ll definately look into the therapy NOCD offers. Glad to here you’ve had great results!
