Personally i’m not shy to talk about it, but people around me are really judgy and they’re not well educated on mental health issues. That’s why I’ve never told anyone but I think they suspect it because I act wired when I get thoughts and try to do rituals as fast as possible.

I totally get that! There’s lots of people who say “I have anxiety” and whatnot but as soon as you say “no like I have an actual anxiety disorder like a mental illness” then all of a sudden they see you as a crazy person

@tella4 Yess same! One of the reasons why I haven’t told anyone is my themes sometimes are really embarrassing and they’ll never understand

I was diagnosed with it by my therapist, but I suspected I had it about maybe a couple months beforehand. My parents and brother know, as well my close friend and some others. I’m not shy to talk about having OCD because I think we do need to talk about it more openly so it can get more awareness and others can come out of the shadows so to say, but i don’t go into the actual content on my themes outside of my therapist and parents. I suspect many other people know I have OCD too because I share posts that talk about OCD quite frequently on my social media

Almost everyone knows I have OCD, but the only people who know the content of it is my family, therapist, and 4 of my closest friends who thankfully are very supportive & understanding?

They always think that I’m weird and complicated that’s why I’m a private person and prefer to keep OCD Bullshit to myself

Like who did you told or do you tell everyone about it?

I have been trying to be more open about it, but I feel so much judgement from the people I care about...and I feel like they look at me differently. I have found a few people to confide in and that is it...but I would like to talk about it more and shed more light on it all around!

I want to tell my best friend but I am really scared to tell her. She is very open minded but I worry that she will start seeing me differently but at the same time there are so many staff that I can’t explain and I want her to know the struggle I am going through. Any thoughts or ideas?

I think slowly opening up is the best way to go! Start out with just letting the people you trust know that you have ocd & explain what ocd, just start out telling them what you feel comfortable with them knowing. Eventually you get get into the content of your specific ocd when you feel like they can understand. I have harm ocd so I was very scared to open up about it, luckily I have friends who know me very well so they understood just how irrational my OCD was & that it by no means said anything about my character. If you need any advice or anything else, I would be happy to share! It’s very hard to open up, but it does help to have a support system❤️
