More people are investigating the imagery in OCD AND PTSD because they actually generate the largest emotional reaction. I’m coming out of this latest harm/responsibility and sexual ocd phase - but fucking hell!! It amazes me how disgusting this order has the capacity to get - there’s no low too low.

It’s quite a read but also shows how wary adverse experiences can influence your obsessions. Although the disorder just needs something to grab onto.

I have had a very up and down day. Very hard to not look into the thoughts, see how they connect to other things and think ‘it might not be ocd’. But reassurance is the killer of recovery so don’t give it to me!!

I’m up and down. Truth is I run these questions so much in my head that I just need to focus on my values, what I know I desire, and not what ifs telling what I MIGHT want or what is POSSIBLE to start wanting. The other thing I am realising is that this takes a lot of time. It may be a year before I feel relatively normal again. Then comes forgiveness for having terrible thoughts of committing harm to my children/family. Things that horrify me but nonetheless my brain threw them up. I’m not sure how I will do in the end. But I just have to take it one day at a time. I could be irresponsible, I could engage in violent or sexually aggressive behaviour, I could commit pure evil. I just need to remind myself that such actions are utterly anaemic to my core beliefs, values and interests. Amazing how we beat ourselves up on things we hate, have never done, yet fear doing.

Yes, I mostly have graphic images which is the most traumatising, horrible cause it seems more real than words in your mind. Mjs110160 do you know any resources or research that it‘s the most prevalent? That would be interesting..though it might be reassurance ?

Hi Soniclen, how are you at the moment? And how did you get out of your latest OCD phase? I‘m having the thoughts much recently plus big problems to get enough sleep. And me too I often think it can‘t be OCD. I hear whats going on in the world and just wish I could be a part of it again..
