What maintains intrusive sexual obsessions? Like any form of OCD, symptoms of HOCD are maintained by faulty beliefs, rituals, and avoidance behaviors. Faulty beliefs about sexuality and sexual orientation perpetuate fear about the possible consequences of resisting OCD-related compulsions. This is harmful because every time an unwanted thought is avoided or neutralized, it is reinforced and becomes more likely to become activated again in the future. Avoidance and rituals thus prevent the occurrence of corrective learning experiences that would ultimately cause these unwanted thoughts to decrease in frequency and intensity.

So how would you try and control it if it mostly happens at night they used to happen all day but now for the past two days it’s mostly at night

Me too I know where you are coming from hocd Took a toll on me a month ago that’s when it started a month before that I was OK I was trying to cope from a drastic dramatic break up from my ex fiancé in which she left me and now HOCD took over and I feel like I lost attraction to women but I know I like them I know I’m attracted to them so what the fuck is going on

Mines completely gone to the point where the gay thoughts sometimes arouse me, like I remember being so girl crazy then soon as I developed this it all went

@frghtfdfh But when I do get them I keep checking for arousal but it shrinks and sometimes I imagine those thought just to see if I do but I don’t but I don’t like thinking of and I hate to reassure myself even though I know what I am and what I don’t like I know I’m straight and I’m not gay but the Obsession and compulsiveNess kills me

I’ve always been into guys but I’ve definitely questioned myself and lost almost all attraction to guys.

That’s how I feel too I was always Attracted to women I’ve had girlfriends I’ve had crushes on women after my fiancée left me last year July 2019 HOCD hit me this year July 2020 how fucking ironic

@luiscoro0218 I’ve considered being or doing things with girls. I even attempted when I was a teen but quickly shut it down. I once even thought I was attracted to my best friend that I would call a sister.

The more you “test or check yourself” the more OCD will try to prove doubt and intensify uncertainty. It’s a futile exercise that wastes your time.

What if you let them happen but didn’t place any importance on them? Let it ride out without making it a big deal or worrying about it. The more you focus on something the more it stays in the mind.

Yes it causes doubt. Yes it makes no logical sense. You can’t change ocd and how it occurs you can only manage it the best that you can where you’re not stressed, anxious and miserable.

You have to get to the point where you accept that you have ocd it operates in this way and I’m ok with it. I understand it and I live with it. No more going crazy over it and letting it attack your life. It’s a time waster.....
