Are you in therapy? It's taken me 20+ years to get where I am. The road is different for everybody. Fortunately, you have a lot more resources at your disposal than in the past. Take advantage of them ☺.

10 years I’ve had ocd but I intentionaly start blocking out every thought good and bad when I was depress 3 years ago now I’m only just now starting to let my mind go wherever it wants but it seems like for blocking out thoughts for that long my mind just can’t think atm does this make sense

I think so. It sounds like you might be making progress. Having a therapist would probably be helpful for you.

Yeah, more often that not I’m anxious. But, sometimes I feel okay. And even if it’s just for a little, I want more of those moments

True. Anxiety is a part of life and those of us with OCD struggle more than others. Struggle is probably a given, but not necessarily suffering. Are you learning strategies to cope with OCD?

I’ve had it since I was 7. I’m 22 now. It’s definitely a long haul and everyday is a challenge. But I’m looking forward to changing my life for the better

I just quit nicotine and I just move out on my own so this could be making it worse . To manage ocd what do you do I need some help thanks

Well sadly right now I’m struggling pretty hard too, but I see a therapist and try my best to keep a journal where I right down my thoughts, how I’m feeling with Erp, etc. I also do yoga and try to meditate. I’ve kind of stopped recently (4 days) and boy has my mood turned sour.

@wellwellwell Sounds like you had a good routine going. What can you do today to work your way back into it? I recently had my routine broken for a few weeks when I was visiting my parents. Slowly, I'm working back into it.

@Ben84 I’m applying to med school right now so I think stress has been slowly building and I’m channeling it all into ocd. I don’t know what to do bc it’s good I’m so nervous about applications but not great that I’m now back to worrying I’m gay

@sam637059 While I can look back and see signs of OCD when I was younger, my first major episode happened when I was in the 8th grade. I didn't recognize it as OCD at the time. I was afraid my life was a TV show. What a boring show that would have been ?!

@wellwellwell That would definitely be a stress trigger for most people ☺. Since you're in therapy do have some strategies to fall back on?

Yes. Meditation is something that seems to help a lot of people. It's not something I do deliberately, but I probably practice similar habits as thoughts come into my head throughout the day.

@Ben84 they won’t put me in therapy because I don’t know what theme of ocd I got it’s around harm happening to love ones is it responsibility ocd
