I don’t really count steps anymore and if I do I hardly notice it it’s like second nature to me until I stopped and went “oh that’s not normal”. I think if I have had ocd for a long time it looks a lot different now because I developed pocd around adulthood and that’s my main obsession now I think

Also I would love to talk but I don’t feel comfortable talking to minors (under 18)

@9jewels I am 18 I have dealt with intrusive ocd when I was just In my eighth grade for an entire year...all by myself cause I was too ashamed to tell it to people....so believe me I am quite mature.

When I was little I used to count the words in sentences or songs with my fingers, and I’d try to get to a sentence that ended exactly when my fingers had counted to 10, idk if I’m explaining myself properly. Then when I was going to make my first communion and took all the lessons, I remember they talked one time about people selling their soul to the devil to get what they wanted, and so every night when I prayed I had to say “I will never sell my soul to the devil to get what I want” otherwise I felt like I’d do it. One time I also got supper obsessed with getting cancer after I watched a movie called “my sisters keeper” and I would check my body every single day to make sure I had non of the symptoms. ? now I’m struggling with hocd and it makes so much sense cause I’ve had these obsessing since I was little and I just never talked about them or asked for help.

I do this a lot too. There's is a constant "1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2..." in my head to make sure I have taken an even number of steps, and I get really anxious if I don't. I also do this with the colors of the ground, where I need to have the same amount texture/color touching my feet in total and if I miss one it makes me really anxious.
