This post feels like deja vu to me... I'm not sure whether you wrote about this before or whether someone else described something similar

@NOCD Advocate - Katie You said to me: "Perhaps OCD has magnified the importance of sexuality and minimized the importance of other aspects of your identity. It's an unsettling change. I can see why you're concerned. However, I don't think it's as life shattering as OCD insists. What other parts of your identity matter to you? What else do you enjoy?" And said hyperfocus wasn't a good thing (when I ask how to get rid of that pressure, so by extension stop my hyperfocus (it's that which pressure myself) to get back my attraction) and tell that attraction wasn't really important.

@AnonBaguette @AnonBaguette My bad, I didn't ask the question about how to get rid pressure off in my previous post(I was persuaded I did talk about it, sorry)

@AnonBaguette I misremembered too. From my perspective, focusing on other aspects of your identity WAS my advice

@NOCD Advocate - Katie It's not even a problem about identiy at this stade, it's just I enjoy looking at women and finding them beautiful and since two years it's not possible anymore, I can't be in relationship, I can look women... The rare things who bring happiness in my life..

@Pure_O_Warrior Sexuality is an important part of identity. I agree with that. However, it is not the ONLY or MOST important part of identity. All forms of OCD shatter lives. Part of how that happens is that we magnify the importance of the OCD content and minimize the importance of everything else. This means that most people with OCD about sexuality attribute much too much importance to their sexual identity. It's similar to the way people with eating disorders attribute much too much importance to their body image. Body image matters, but it isn't the only or most important part of identity. Effective treatment for eating disorders requires nurturing other parts of their identity. Effective treatment for OCD with sexuality obsessions requires nurturing non sexuality parts if identity. Effective treatment for OCD about career, school, or relationships requires nurturing identity outside of career, school, or relationships
