Face your fears! That’s how we show OCD it doesn’t have power anymore. I stayed silent for 15 years. And although I thought I would die letting all my secrets out of the beg, it was the best thing I could ever do. You are not alone. You have normal thoughts, you are only giving meaning to those thoughts. I wish I wouldn’t have wasted all the orecious parts of my life listening to my OCD telling me I was a freak. Just do it... it will be hard, but SOOO rewarding.

Yeah something has to change. But these thoughts just don’t feel normal at all and I feel like I don’t deserve to get better and I deserve everything I’m feeling

@spiffy I know you “feel” like that, but there are false feelings. You have to learn to make decisions with logic, and not feelings. You can do this! And believe me, you are definitely not the first person to share the thpe if thoughts you are having with your therapist. I can guarantee that. Mine didn’t even blink an eye.... it made me feel so much better and understood, and validated. You’ve got this!

Its nerve racking, BUT it is the first step to giving the middle finger to ocd and intrusive thoughts. I did a fairly scary exposure with my therapist. It was hard, I cried a bit. I even got a thought of wanting to kill my therapist, I told her and she didn't even flinch. She suggested I say my thoughts out loud, whenever possible, as staying quiet gives ocd and the thoughts more power.

They just feel so real and some real-event OCD is going on too so I’m like constantly assessing memories and telling myself they aren’t just thoughts

@spiffy Im starting to have this too. I think of moments where Ive lost my cool and was a bit aggressive, among other moments Im not proud of, and ocd uses them against me. I totally understand what you're going through

I have no friends anymore. I’d like those again.

I want to not feel like a monster anymore. I want to enjoy reading books and being with my partner again.

@spiffy How can you make those motivators more salient?

@NOCD Advocate - Katie I just don’t feel I deserve to make them more salient. I’m just a monster

@spiffy Remember that feelings and thoughts aren't facts. Feeling or thinking you don't deserve it doesn't mean you actually don't deserve it. On a different note, how has your OCD impacted your loved ones?

@NOCD Advocate - Katie It’s made my relationship with my partner not very good at all. I don’t talk to people and just sit in my room all day obsessing.

@spiffy Perhaps you can use your love for them as motivation to start challenging OCD
