I understand why you feel hurt. Was it an anti-depressant? I cannot think of any anti-depressants that a patient is advised to simply stop taking and not gradually taper down.

This exactly. Antidepressants are never supposed to be stopped suddenly. Either they gradually lower the dosage to ween you off or you have longer gaps between taking it until you stop. You have every right to be hurt, that is YOUR health that she is intervening with. Is it possible to make an appointment with your psychiatrist & have your mom come with you so they can talk to her? Maybe hearing it from a professional may help her understand. Just because she is a nurse & worked briefly in a pharmacy does not make her qualified to diagnose you. Honestly even general physicians are not well versed in mental health diagnoses. Only a psychiatrist/therapist or mental health specialist is educated enough about mental health to diagnose you.

@catmom I wholeheartedly agree about exercising caution regarding relying on, for instance, a primary care physician to make a mental health diagnosis or recommend/provide medication management for psych meds.

@catmom My mom refuses to understand we have tried and she is stuck in her own world. She’s the type of person that believe what she wants to believe and will not waver. I was taking Prozac which comes with that warning of suicidal thoughts/ideation as a side effect which she was worried about, but when we discussed ether medication my mom just said it was fine, but obviously not since she did all this.
