I really appreciate your wisdom. On a personal note, I try to accept my thoughts and feelings. However, the thought of doing my life restarting ritual is so unbelievably tempting. I have been able to not give in, but I feel saddened that I will live a not-so-great life with not giving in and feeling tainted. I feel like I am settling and that I should be working harder in doing the ritual and living my life more perfectly. How do I escape the haunt? I hate living with this temptation and resulting feelings of inadequacy. I feel that one thought string or way of thinking about this all will do the trick. It is all magical thinking after all, but I am stuck. Do you have any advice for me?

I think I can relate to this to a degree. Let me ask you this. How great a life would you be living by constantly restarting?

@Ben84 Your questioning and insight help me more than you know. Thank you. The thing is is that I tell myself that each time will be the last, most ultimate time. That also feeds the euphoria. Even with my history of doing this since 2012 (after a traumatic psychiatric hospitalization, loss of my child, and abandonment by my ex-husband), I still believe the last time thing. :(

@ashco I'm so sorry those things happened to you ?. How about this quote?: And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good. - John Steinbeck, East of Eden

You are so positive all the time. I admire that! Ocd can make me feel so down sometime. ?

To be fair, it's easy to be positive when you're feeling good. Give me this app in my darkest times and my posts might be pretty grim if not bizzare ☺.

@Ben84 So happy for you. Feeling good because you are recovering from OCD? If so how do you achieve the recovery?

@Ben84 I am asking for myself obviously ?

@Sunflower 1234 Well the "easiest" road would have been to have an OCD specialist. That wasn't really a road presented to me. Therefore it's hard to articulate how I got to be where I am. It's possible OCD just overplayed its hand and I got tired of it. Little by little I'd accept some uncertainty and anxiety and move forward.

@Ben84 Would you say you did erp on your own? I cannot find a therapist to work with either. And I really want to recover.

@Sunflower 1234 I suppose it kind of was. But it was typically incidental. It's as if OCD backed me into a corner and I had to either fight or die.

I am doing erp on my own now and it is hard. It has been only two days but my anxiety is getting pretty high. Do you have any advice for people who do erp on their own? Any books? People to follow? Etc
