Welcome š I'm another Rogers residential graduate. I attended the adolescent program ten years ago. I get your hesitation about returning to therapy. I've walked that walk. I felt like I "shouldn't need therapy anymore" and that because I'd learned ERP, it was all on me to fix myself.... Long story short, I'm immensely glad that I went back to outpatient therapy. It's š a blend of ERP, ACT, and therapy for depression and life transitions. SUPER HELPFUL!! For what it's worth, there have been significant advancements in treatment for OCD in the last 18 years. The ERP you learned back then was good. The ERP you can learn now (blend d with ACT, using the inhibitory learning model instead of habituation model) is better

Hi Katie would you please explain the inhibitory learning model? I have never heard of it.

Wow thank you for the information! Thatās so great to know! Do u know if NOCD uses that as well? Thanks again!

Glad to hear both of you had good experiences at Rodger. I have contemplated to enroll in their out-patient program but then decided not to because of the cost. I might try to enroll if doing erp on my own doesn't get the results I want.

@Sunflower 1234 Yes, most people need to weigh the anticipated benefits and associated costs with the status quo when making this kind of decision. In your case, that will probably be after you try ERP on your own.

@Fear Strikes Out Even with the high cost of residential, PHP, and IOP treatment, it can be a very worthwhile investment in oneself that significantly improves quality of life.

@Fear Strikes Out Totally agreed with you. It is definitely challenging to do erp on my own. My fear is to spend money in therapy but the therapist turns out to not be that helpful. I saw an OCD therapist 6 years ago. (I got better insurance back then so the insurance paid for most of it). He was a nice man but unfortunately he didn't help me much. He was supposed to be trained in erp too. The only helpful advice I got from him is to write my thoughts out repeatedly. That's why part of me is hesitant to spend a lot of money in therapy again.

@Sunflower 1234 If you ever decide to pursue therapy with an OCD therapist again, you might ask the following questions: 1. Are they trained in ERP? 2. Do they augment ERP with ACT and mindfulness? 3. How many clients have they treated using ERP? 4. Are they BTTI certified? 5. How do they measure treatment outcomes? There are probably other good questions that can be added, too.

@Fear Strikes Out This is really helpful. Thank you. I am going to call a therapist now. I want to meet with someone two hours/ week to guide me with doing erp.

@Sunflower 1234 That's awesome! I think two times a week results in better outcomes than just once a week.

@Kat2244 Hi Kat. Would you recommend Rogers? I am seriously considering their out-patient program. My insurance is high deductible so I LL be paying a lot of money. I am trying to get a lot of input before making the decision.

Hi Katie have you done Rogers out-patient program recently? Would you recommend it? I am seriously considering it. I LL have to pay a lot out of my pocket so I am asking for input from others. I read their online reviews and the reviews are mixed. I am aware they do more than treating ocd so some of the negative reviews online might have nothing to do with their OCD program.

@Sunflower 1234 No, I haven't had treatment at Rogers since I left residential. I would totally go back to them, I just live hours away from any of their clinics

@Sunflower 1234 Rogers has a very good reputation in the OCD treatment field. You are fortunate to be living so close to one of them. As far as online reviews, remember that someone dissatisfied about a product or service is 10 times more likely to post a review than the person who was satisfied. I would be inclined to view the reviews from that lens and lean more towards the positive reviews. How much would paying out of pocket impact your ability to live day to day?

@Fear Strikes Out I will probably pay about $3000 out of pocket because of my plan is high deductible. I am willing to pay that. I am trying to schedule a screening with them.

Welcome, Kat. Many of us can appreciate the turmoil that OCD contributes to our emotional lives. What type of Roger's program were you in 18 years ago (residential, PHP, IOP). Have you considered a return visit or, at least, connecting with an OCD therapist?

I was in residential. No, I learned the basics so I wonāt be returning . There are therapists that I could connect with... just not sure yet. I am going to try to apply what I learned from ERP and do it again though on my own with you all š
