Isnt this like two days later from the evening you did amazingly with an erp? You held off for so long! Progress not perfection! I'm so sorry your ruminating now. On a scale, where is your anxiety right now?

Unfortunately yes. This is a different obsession, so I don't think it was affected by that session. I left the house I'm headed back home. All I want to do when I get there is to continue checking. I know that won't help me... I've done this so many times. The itch is so strong, but I think I have to use this as an opportunity to practice ERP. I'm at about a 7.

@salvation Great. Sounds like leaving was a good way to give you some breathing space from your compulsion? When you get home are their productive things you can do aside from checking? Just to keep you occupied while you let the anxiety come down? I know its lame but is there a cleaning project that's been put off that you can accomplish or something?

@catattak I've got to pack up and get ready for the move.

@salvation Well it's something! I hate packing but it's something that will give you a sense or accomplishment which I think is a bonus. Anxiety still at a 7?

@catattak Yeah, just about.

@salvation Keep going. You can do this one too. Remember the other night you said that was top tier and you were successful there too. I know it's a lot pretty close together but I believe you can do this and bring your anxiety down. It's okay if you dont. Like I said, progress not perfection but I'm sending you positive thoughts and support to keep going!

@salvation Hey! It's been about an hour. How are you feeling?

@catattak Alright. The craving for safety and certainty has not gone away. I guess I should practice ERP now.

@salvation I understand that feeling. It's so hard to just want safety but our brains can not give it to us.

I gave in to a bunch of compulsions yesterday and now I am feeling super anxious and itching to do compulsion. We all fail sometimes. Perfection is unattainable. What matters is that we won't give up and keep pressing on. I understand you though. I have been doing well for 10 days and thought I am close to recovery so a set back is so discouraging.

Perhaps you can think about how many compulsions you resisted compared to the number you actually did

Yes. That is a great idea. I need to focus on the positive. I used to give in to compulsions all the time now it is just some time.

@Sunflower 1234 This is how I was taught to track compulsions in residentialhttps://www.instagram.com/p/Bxcv_cOARE0/?igshid=13yl1zbe90za

@NOCD Advocate - Katie Thanks. I will use this to start tracking my rituals. Does avoidance count as ritual?

@Sunflower 1234 Yes, it does. It can be a bit trickier to keep track of though. Maybe you can make it more concrete by tracking times you ask someone else to do something for you

@NOCD Advocate - Katie I am assuming rituals here are both mental (ruminations) and physical (googling in my case)?
