I’ve had this fear too. Once my partner actually really mixed a lot of them together, purposefully, in a small bathroom with the window closed. He didn’t know how it can be dangerous. Even he was ok. It seems like now your OCD has latched onto this fear. Try to fight it. Sending you strength to do so.

This was one of my first worries that led to me realizing I had OCD. I was always scared chemicals would somehow mix like if I went to the store someone would spill something on accident and make chlorine gas. I was also terrified of going out to eat anywhere because I thought bleach from washing dishes would get in the food or water and kill me. Funny thing is now I’m so scared of antifreeze that I don’t think about or care about bleach at all anymore. Hell, I’d probably take a sip just to make it so antifreeze wasn’t poisonous. But that’s not how reality works. Oh well. Try going into your apartment and taking a deep breath and see how it feels. Do you have many windows to air it out?

Wow it’s so amazing to realize so many people can relate. I honestly feel crazy and alone until I come to this app. Your comment is really helpful and makes me feel a lot better. Thank you so much . Haha I definitely relate to how you feel :/ yes I do, I have a window open now. I feel a lot better. I still have this weird sense that it’s “contaminated” in here, like the food that was in my apartment when it happened is now contaminated by the chemical smell or something. I’m trying to work through that

@staystrong123 I’m so happy it helps you feel better! And I had a similar experience downloading this app, it truly is amazing. You’re the first person I’ve seen directly write about fear of bleach mixing with other chemicals so it nailed me feel good to not be alone. I totally understand the contaminated food thing too, for a while I would always have to wash or replace my water cup if it left my sight at all, thinking somehow magically some chemical got in it. Keep working on it and it can get better!
